When a young male becomes 18 yrs old, he should leave the house of his single MOM; either to go on to college or get a job and find an apartment. Birds do not tolerate their young to stick around pass their time. When it is time to fly and feed themselves, young birds take off on their own. Single Moms are doing their children a great deal of harm by hoarding to their 18 and older children that have grown up to be a legitimate adult. We are not speaking of the exceptions when the youth has a mental or medical problem but under normal conditions the youth should get of the house on their own.

Sounds like you had some good up-bringing from your parents, Saint. Unfortunately, this is seldom the case with single Moms of today, being over protective. Getting the foundation from the parent(s) and some self confidence is really what the young adult needs to leave the nest.

Well it use to be that kids at 18 signed up to join the military which was a good instructor but now that Wars loom, no one is willing to tell their kids to go get themselves killed. Any who... I think that there is a great injustice being done to many teens today, but I don't fault the single mom but perhaps its the lack of male leadership which shouldn't be absent just because the father didn't marry the mother. Stop all the time blaming everything or pointing fingers at single women with kids. Where is the father in this senario and why isn't he mentioned? It takes two to make a child and certainly the entire village to raise one. Just my two cents for whatever its worth. (smiles)

Unfortunately, many young brothers are growing up with out men of integrity in their homes. Although mothers may teach their sons how to have courage and intelligence and respect for themselves, fathers are the ones who actually set the standard that all other men should try to meet when entering society. No matter how you slice it, a woman cannot teach her son how to be a man. So, please let's try not to classify all single moms who still have sons over 18 living at home. I blame it to not having a strong, Godly, hadworking, father figure in the home who can reassure the man of what it takes to be a GOOD man.

Here, we are not trying to blame either parent for what caused the condition of the single Mom...only to deal with the aftermath after the dynamic situation occurs with a single mom and her young teenage son. Sure, like sister Siebra says, there is no replacement for having a strong fathery figure to teach the principles of a good man. Then, sis. Jen points out the absent father must still play an active role in the affair of his son, be it away from his house. Nonetheless, the single Mom who has custody of the child is responsible for ultimate decision who is IN THE HOUSE WHEN HER SON TURNS 18. If she takes the position, despite her ex-husband or ex-boyfriend to sanction her son to continue to feed from her nest.....this is doing a great dis-service to the maturity of the young adult. He must leave the house and learn to fend for himself as early to 18 as possible less it develops into a handicap later in his life.

Hello to All, The blog advises that a single mom should make her son leave home when he is 18. This concept is in line with God creation of animals that we could learn something. However, this Black American mom should consider that she; herself has gotten no where in the environment of White America. This Black American mom do not realize that she and her people need to have our own environment that her son can grow up. For instance, Elijah Muhammad established Muslim schools. But, when these children matured into adults they had nowhere else to go except back into the environment that Elijah supposedly saved them from to have a better life because of their Muslim education. So, was that progress? Of course not! Instead of Elijah securing our sovereignty he went off track and did other things. It is understandable because Elijah was not an anointed prophet for Black Americans. Am I making any sense? The examples given of how the birds do their thing is in a perfect world of birds. But, that is not the case for Black Americans. Black America’s world is not perfect by far. Black Americans are a subjugated people born out of the ashes of plantation slavery. What we need first is our desire to become a sovereign people on a reasonable and fertile portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders. This desire to be sovereign free we do not have it yet. For instance, did not God deliver the children of Israel out of bondage and slavery in Egypt? After the children of Israel deliverance then they were able to do all these necessary things to become civilize and develop properly as a nation for the first time in their history. The 10 Commandments that God gave Moses was a start for them to become a civilize people. We, as Black Americans are far from being civilize especially since we use the scriptures of other people. You all are just rambling around having no set pattern or aim. You all are just talking with out a structural framework. Now, where do you get this structural framework from, except that it must come from our prophet as the children of Israel structural framework came from their prophet, Moses. So, think in terms of priority. Place in front the things that needs to come first. In our case what needs to come first is that we must develop the desire to become a sovereign people now that we have our genuine prophet in our midst, Prophet Harry. If I have said anything that did not make sense you all who are my people are too pointed out to me, am I right. Tell me what you think.

Hello to All, Leaving the nest is not enough for Black American children. Since all Black Americans nest is in White America. So, leaving the nest under these circumstances are not good enough. The concept of leaving the nest for the children of Israel would mean still being in Egypt. What Black Americans want is to leave the country and jurisdiction of White America and into our own country. So, Black Americans just don't want to leave the nest; but instead, Black Americans want to leave White America to have our own country and sovereignty. How you're thinking does not line up with reality. Black Americans must have a sovereign country of our own that when our children leaves the nest they will be going out into their own environment which is our own country to build it better and stronger using all the science so our country will become a superpower as White America is today. This is the proper concept for Black American children leaving the nest. Am I right or am I wrong? What say you?
