CBS REPORT
JUNE 2011
19TH Day
African American teens are experiencing a grimm employment outlook this summer. Even those whom have graduated high school or have passed the GED test are also feeling a grimm return in employment. A CBS report indicated in June stated that the national average has always been slightly higher for African Americans, but that has reached a "Depression-era levels". The recent figures showed African American joblessness is at 16.2%. The reported also zoned in that for African American males showed a 17.5 %. The report indicated that in New York City the Community Service Society gave a quote of 34% of young Black males from ages 19-24 are unemployed in New York. In pointing fingers the source of news from CBS said that Job counselors say part of the problem is coming from out of high schools where teachers are not educating Black students a "marketable skill." When jobs are scarce, it is almost imperative to have a real skill and still Blacks are really not guaranteed a job.

There is always hope and more education waiting...
