THE DAILY SHOW, August 4, 2011--Thursday night's "Daily Show" closed out the week with a look at our nation's myriad culture wars, including controversy over biracial Spider-man, free birth control and American Atheists protesting the showing of a cross beam found at the World Trade Center site.
In the segment below, Jon Stewart, a New Yorker and known advocate for 9/11 first responders, bluntly asks Atheists, "Why do you give a sh*t?" and breaks down their argument as to why the cross shouldn't be featured in the World Trade Center memorial.
The cross was found in the wreckage of 9/11 and is a religious symbol to some, but Stewart wonders why American Atheists -- especially President Dave Silverman -- can't see it for the artifact it is, or why they're "being total d*cks" about letting others enjoy it.
