G.O.P. LEADERSHIP: EMERGENCY DISASTER AID MUST BE OFFSET BY SPENDING CUTS (816 hits)

THINK PROGRESS, August 26, 2011--House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) is insisting that “any potential emergency disaster aid be offset by spending cuts.”

Huffington Post reports that “Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring on Friday declined to say where Republicans would look to make cuts to pay for a potential storm aid package.”

Speaker John Boehner’s spokesperson “ducked the question altogether when asked if Boehner agreed with Cantor’s call for offsets for emergency aid.”

Boehner and Cantor’s position is “a break from a bipartisan tradition” of immediately appropriating funds to help those in need following a natural disaster.

They have been getting a lot of heat from their constituents for their no-tax stubbornness. People don't like it.

I bet they would have plenty to say about disaster funding if it affected them directly and the companies they have stock in. Ha!

This is another example of brainwasing alive and doing well in America...The purpose o f a Governor of a state asking for a part of or all of their state to be declare a disaster area is no different than when Congress declares a disaster like war that gives them to powers to provide all of the federal monies needed...Congress can do one, the president can do the other with those in congress' ok like tkis congressman knows out right...

that little thing in our Constutition called separation of federal powers, we should all know as votrs!!!!!!!!!!! (nup)
