
Alcorn State University Extension/Research and Demonstration Farm will hold its annual Sweet Potato Jamboree/Fall Vegetable Field Day on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 294 Grainger Dorsey Rd, Mound Bayou, Mississippi.
Farmers, consultants and others interested in Mississippi agriculture will have an opportunity to hear about results of current research and demonstration projects. The event is free and open to the public.
ASU researchers and Extension professionals as well as scientists from Agricultural Research Service (ARS) will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results and respond to questions. Topics will include vegetable production, farm financial management, the identification and control of pests on vegetables, and clonal propagation of fruit crops.
Personnel from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education will answer questions about available opportunities with their agencies on assisting small and limited-resource farmers.

Rockiell Woods is the regional coordinator (Delta) and Larry Russell is the farm manager.
