A powerful 6.9 earthquake targeted the remote Himalyan region on Tuesday which damaged over 100,000 homes and killed at least 63 reported deaths. In addition to heavy monsoon rains, people without shelter caused hundreds to sleep out in the rains. With stifiling rainy conditions which caused also mudslides made rescue and emergeny workers help suitations even more dangerous and with some difficulty. Near Nepal in the state of Sikkim at least 32 perished from the quake and several other deaths reported in the neighboring regions. It's feared many may be still trapped under falling roofs as rescue teams work diligently to save lives.
