Question for you all:

What is your opinion of Lawrence O'Donnell's question? Do you think it was out of bounds?

The panel was divided. Reverend Al had no problem with it. Goldie Taylor said she had more of a problem with Cain's answers than O'Donnell's questions.

Mellissa Harris-Perry said she was feeling kind of queasy at the interracial questioning.

Love to hear what you all think???

Just what do American Africans' want; Why are they the ones who are playing the race card. Why does The PRESIDENT have to prove his blackness to his own people? I m sick and tired of this debate within racial lines. American Africans are quick to join the white man against one of their own. Where is the loyalty? And don't tell me that disloyalty is a residue of slavery. We are suppose to be intelligent, educated people and what makes you think that the man who stole your ancestors from their home, sold them into slavery and made them a slave for life is ever going to do anything for you that does not benefit him? I just don't understand.

All of this time and with all of the so called progress, the stupid thinking and actions are the same. What happened to the will to survive inspite of circumstances? Some of you have educated your childdren to beg instead of work, accept hand outs and hand-me-downs instead of striving to succeed in spite of the rocks and holes in the road.

It seems the theme song is gimmie gimmie gimmie instead of earn earn earn. There are those who don't even understand what an education is much less what is the advantage. The reason american africans are ignored politically is because they are not preceived as a threat. Some won't even work so how are they a threat? And don't tell me what He won't do. He didn't do anything for American Africans in the late 1800 and early 1900, yet there was more independence in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s. than ever sense. There was more Black business and productivity than there is now when the separate but equal agenda disappeared.

African Americans come from strong stock, survival stock. The ones here today are descendents of the survivors of the middle passage. Every negative thought and action of the oppressor has become a self fulfilling inditement as American Africans help make all of the lies and misstated facts true. They believe their own negativity and call it culture. Most have no clue as to what culture really is. Give that welfare check back and MAKE A JOB.

Who said slavery is over---It is just a new kind of slavery and the Federal Government is the slave master. Anyone who keeps you from doing for yourself is your slavemaster. They quit helping if you try to do for yourself, and they will try to do everything possible to keep you from succeeding. When will AMERICAN AFRICANS GET IT RIGHT?

Way to go Thomasena!!!

Clearly you feel passionately about the subject.

I do not feel qualified to offer a comment--except to say that there does not seem to be a consensus position among AFrican-Americans. In my opinion, that is a good thing because people CAN and Do think for themselves.

Rich,
Sometimes I wonder. It appears to me after all of the stuff that has transpired in this country Ray Charles can see that things are not that much better. Before the so called aboition of Jim Crow, American Africans were more resourceful and independent. They valued education and not just for the money. Excellence was a war cry not 'pretty good'. With all of the government money available fewer are going to college and even fewer are graduating.

I know that circumstances dictates some of the choices people make, but years ago, the circumstances were worse in many instances. Just to be able to eat in the same restaurant or sit in the front of the bus or sit downstaires in the movies was too high of a price to pay for what we lost. We lost integrity, pride, self knowledge, values, strive for excellence, and motivation.

Don't get me wrong, I am not discrediting the achievements of those who made the untimate sacrifice during the civil right movement. I honor them for their effort. Those who followed them DROPPED THE BALL and now our youth are paying for it. In fifty years, if the book writer are not stopped, nobody will know that the President and Martin Luther King were American Africans. There is a movement to take all color out of the history book. And if they can go blind and call The President a white man today, what will they do when they finish airbrushing his photograph just like Alexander Hamilton Beethoven and Dumas?

And what about those who chant, GET OVER IT? People of color have gotten over it.It is the others who have not gotten over it. People of color have gotten over it, around it, under it, beside it and across it. The south is still fighting the civil war and people like Palin and her tea partiers, and all of their cousins are desparate to "preserve WHITE CHRISTIAN AMERICA" yet they do nothing christian. It is all for others to practice while they put it on the shelf. At least, once a week, I am reminded that there are some who speak with forked tongue. Our children don't know that while the are sucked further and further into the sink hole of hand outs and non education. the others are making great strides and trying to steal even more.

Thank you Thomasena. That was highly instructive and insightful. I have to say--all your points make sense.

Your comment on how even Ray Charles can see better than some people was funny!!!

Whow, Cain had better come up with a better put down of the Blacks as he was not only shut out in the Value vote Summit, he even came in behind Bachmann for second mention...

but, as his last resort to come back in demeaning blacks is to bring out wright and the Noi...and, I doubt if he knows that there is a divide in teh NOI therefore which version he must attack, probably farrakhan / Obama as these name is the only one the average person knows...

yes prejudice is the same as ignorant. (smile)

Rich you know big mouth Irma and he sticking with how anything tHAt relates to everyday commonsense, truth, facts is out of bound!!! WHICH IS WHY o'DONNELL IS SEEN AS OUT OF BOUND BY cAIN FOR ACTUALLY DIRECTLY QUOTING HIM FROM HIS BOOK...

I would be more comfortable if we looked at our president (and the professor) as someone who is not Black but is interracial. or just looked on as ONE OF GOD'S CHILDREN. LOL (SMILE)

...and, so sorry because "I" jus tmay have caused some to misunder my Cain being shut out comment...some may be stuck on poll numbers and not taht it takes at least $1 billion to be even able to run in a presidentail race today...

Ron Paul may be able to raise from a $million to a few millions on this one poll's # 1...Cain has not been able to raise in the much needed $100.000s in all of his poll leads is what I am getting at with my 'shut out' comment...things in teh real world. lol (smile)

THREAT...

my beautiful sister, "I" believe the actual threat is of the word, THE ACCEPTQANCE and admition of the use of the "I" identity. examples

"I" am the cause of my happiness, security, life and without fear of going to H-E-L-L for not saying, "IT IS GOD'S (by any name, label or title of one's choice) WILL"!

"I" am the most important person I know and not believe this is being selfish.

"I" will never stop trying to learn (the facts) even if "I" don't like it.

"I" love and respect my self, because I am worth this value.

"I" am the only expert on me, myself and I.

and, even more important is the "I" AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OWN ACTIONS BE THEY TURNING OUT TO BE A PLUS ON ME OR A MINUS ON ME, BECAUSE ALL THAT I AM OR EVER WILL BE COMES FROM WITHIN ME. (S-M-I-L-E)

...plus I am sure taht Ron Paul will be able to raise even more $$$$$millions with this hint of our president maybe should be tried for killing an American (terrorist) who had never been tried in a court as a terrorist / threat to America...but as one who is always looking to see the next generation is made better "I" see tihs as a good thing...

It no tonly gets Bush and his administration closer and closer to an internatioal trial court for war crimes...anyone remember a little nation call Iraq and it'spresident wh had not done any thing to America?!? A leader of Iraq who we used the excuse of his gassing his own people with the chemicals we gave him to gas the citizens of Iraq with?!? OH and those untried people in Cuba...most of us don't know about the American citizen that Bush ssent to a prison (without a trial for years and years) and not to gitmo...but then this was covered on C-span not on the sound bites where we get most of our info, right?

but, we will get there, becaue there are already calls to pay for our president's job bil with moneys sent to fight in Afganistan and the war still killing Americans in Iraq to this day...

Occupy wall street, the King Memorial not is the rebuild the Dream movement going to be drowned out by this campaign for president for 2012 against the Mormon church and not the Black churches...which is not working out so good for them as taht preacher is now trying to back track on his message of how bad for America the Mormon church is...

the Mormons have an advantage as they weree not made himan by way of them working themselves to death to become human as my people did and ae still doing...SOME OF US ARE STILL DOING THIS AND OTHERS ARE NOT JUST LIKE WE HAVE NOT STARTED TO HATE OUR OWN MOTHERS EITHER. ..AND ALL NEW BORNS ARE ONLY A NEW WELCOMED MEMBER INTO THE FAIMLY.(S-M-I-L-E)
