WHAT'S A SOUL FOOD THANKGIVING .... (263 hits)

without the soul food? Thousands of homes in the South and even in the North, East and West just might be having "Soul Food" dinners for Thanksgiving. Instead or along with a traditional Turkey ..you'll see things loading on the dinner table like chitterlings, frIed chicken, cornbread, hog moss, pig feet and tails, greens cooked in fat back, orka, pinto beans, black eye peas, yams, and large glazed hams. Your desserts might include sweet potato dishes like pies and pones, and cakes like carmel, chocolate, banana and red velvet and sock-it-to-me-cake. You'll find much more with the cobblers ready to be melting in your mouth topped with homemade icecream. Do fret..if you're not having a soul food table. Some one will. Look out traditional dressings it's Soul Food!

EAT and be SOUL.... THANKFUL!!!

Laughs!! Believe it or not, I only spoke with a Southern Gent who said that his menu included some of those very meats. He along with others in my town really serve up the soul food. I do not have them on my menu, but I have visited as a dinner guest and eaten with families who do--they did have other selective meats though. Many younger or older generations may turn their heads away from chitterlings! They are available all year in Memphis and there a many soul food kitchens which accomodate their tastes.

...and MIISRAEL, for some of the doubters of your post, I ask that they pay close attention to some of the meats you mentioned...

one might not see some of these in their markets until the Thanksgiving, Christmas seasons. (smile)
