Union City, GA-- On "Random Act of Kindness Day," A local Kroger manager brutally assaults 72-year-old "Good Samaritan" in store parking lot following produce give-away.
John Young, under the auspices of "God's Goodness, Inc." has for years collected donated food stuffs from chain stores and the Farmer's Market with the intent to distribute these items was assaulted this afternoon after he was accused of selling on the Kroger lot.
"Mr. Young" as he is affectionately known in the neighborhood was initially accosted by the store security guard, who then retreated to get the manager.
Young, whose white van is frequently seen in parking lots and nearby malls, was reported to have overheard a couple in the parking lot decrying their inability to purchase food.
His invitation take some produce from his truck to "help out" was met by what witnesses called a vicious assault from the store manager who was observed pushing "Mr. Young" to the ground with such force that "his head hit the pavement," shattered his glasses and gashed his head to the point that "blood was gushing out."
Police were called, Young was treated by paramedics at the scene and the manager was arrested, handcuffed and taken into custody.
