Colt is the main small arms supplier of the U.S. Military (exclusive production through 2009 of the M4 5.56mm Carbine). All branches of the U.S. Military use Colt weapon systems, including the M4 Carbine and the M16A2/A4 Rifle. Colt weapon systems are also used in fifteen (15) NATO countries and more than 80 other countries worldwide. More than 8,000,000 units have been produced so far of which more than 90% remain in service. This represents more than 90% of all weapons produced in 5.56mm.

Colt weapon systems have proven themselves under the most severe battle conditions – from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East and the mountains of Afghanistan. Colt weapons therefore can best help a country’s Armed Forces to significantly increase their field readiness as well as their operational, tactical and strategic capabilities. These facts have generated a huge demand for Colt weapon systems and especially for Colt M4 Carbine. All tests conducted for small arms selection are using Colt M4 and M16 as the baseline weapon to which all others are compared. Additionally, most countries that produce their own 5.56mm system for their military are also using Colt M4 and M16 for their Special Forces due to the excellent reputation for accuracy and quality gained by Colt systems in numerous military operations worldwide.
