Hello,
What Dr. King was facing and whether he flinched or not has nothing to do with the speech.
The speech was about God showing Dr. King what is going to happen to his Black American people. Dr. King said that we are going to become a sovereign people in a country of our own when he said he saw us Black Americans in the Promise Land am I right. You just think about it! What were always important to King were his Black American people. Wasn’t Rosa Parkers a Black American? Where are you all minds at? Don’t you all think that Dr. King loved his children? Well, his children are Black Americans am I right.
The Mountain Top speech is the best and greatest speech give.
Why is it that you all can’t think?

@Steve... I know you know the historical back drop of his emotions during this speaking/historical moment....
Because the Next Day he was Assassination...
This was an impromtu appearance....
On Monday, March 18, King managed to fit in a quick stop in Memphis, where he spoke to over 15,000 who had gathered at Mason Temple. Ten days later, King arrived in Memphis to lead a march in support of the striking workers.
Unfortunately, as King led the crowd, a few of the protesters got rowdy and smashed the windows of a storefront. The violence spread and soon countless others had taken up sticks and were breaking windows and looting stores.
Police moved in to disperse the crowd. Some of the marchers threw stones at the police. The police responded with tear gas and nightsticks. At least one of the marchers was shot and killed.
King was extremely distressed at the violence that had erupted in his own march and became determined not to let violence prevail. He scheduled another march in Memphis for April 8.
On April 3, King arrived in Memphis a little later than planned because there had been a bomb threat for his flight before takeoff.
He asked Rev. Abernathy to speak that night; since he was so exhausted from his trip!
... but the folks gathered started chanting for Dr. King!!!
That evening, King delivered his "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech to a relatively small crowd that had braved the bad weather to hear King speak. King's thoughts were obviously on his mortality, for he discussed the plane threat as well as the time he had been stabbed. He concluded the speech with
((((Well, I don't know what will happen now; we've got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn't matter with me now, because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life - longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get to the Promised Land. And so I'm happy tonight; I'm not worried about anything; I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. ))))
In an essence Dr. King is saying that.... He through his struggle has the same resounding Faith that GOD indeed will deliver us from Oppression, Unrighteousness, Depression... and that we will live achieve a higher place in America.... Where color isn't going to be a barrier... THAT WE AS A HUMAN RACE OF PEOPLE ARE Equal to everyone!!

I was thinking back to the times in my youth when I would recite this speech for Black History at church. MLK was definitely an inspiration and helped me to stay focused when the road ahead was challenging.
It's nice that we have people like him to look at for encouragement and to speak for those who are not able to speak for themselves.

To whom it may concern,
Dr. King specially said to Black Americans that we as a people will get to the Promise Land.
The metaphor came from Moses and the Children of Israel am I right. Cynthia is saying that Dr. King meant that Black Americans will achieve a higher place in White America and that is not true.
The Israelites did not achieve a higher place in Egypt. So, we can see that Cynthia is wrong. They physically left Egypt and became a nation for the first time in their Promise Land of Cannan am I right.
I have already out lined to all of you where our Promise Land is at am I right.
So, the same principles and what physically happen with Moses and the Children of Israel will also happen to us as well.
The Mountain Top speech was strictly addressed to Black Americans about the final out come of our relationship in White America for the past 500 years. We are going to become a sovereign people in a country of our own and that is what Promise Land means to Dr. King and should mean the same thing to us and not that nonsense about achieving a higher place in White America like Cynthia said. She doesn’t know any better.
Then she turns to Steve to bless her, but how would Steve know about Dr. King’s feelings when Steve is White and was never abused and hanged as we were. Cynthia is just plain ignorant and dumb.

Ms. Jen,
We don’t have Dr. King any more and the fact that he said that he may not get to the Promise Land with us should tell you that Dr. King is not the one to encourage us. The one to encourage us is our genuine Prophet Harry. Prophet Harry will enter our sovereign country with us. The memories and deeds of Dr. King will be written in our Bible if you will and our own history books.
We will not focus on Dr. King because he was not our prophet. I am Black America’s first genuine prophet whether you like it or not. You all produced me and God anointed me and that is how it happens with all the prophets and their people.

I put this here to honor Dr. King and his sacrifice, and for its enduring inspiration to all of us. Harry says it's his greatest speech and I think he may be right, because it showed the strength of his character and his commitment to the point he would lay down his life.

Fact 1.... He was annointed to follow GOD's Will... He wanted to do God's Will

Fact 2.... Dr. King was also a Black African American....
Who was this man? He was the grandson of a slave, a fourth generation Baptist Preacher, educated with a Ph.D., married and would ultimately father four children, he was a prophet and he was a poet.
Fact 3.... He Had the Gift of Forsight:
He moved people with his vision and his words. One cannot listen to Martin Luther King’s words without being moved. A prophet sees things that others cannot see. He describes what he sees and it comes to life.
He believed, from the bottom of his heart, that things would change. He said over and over, “we stand at the daybreak of freedom.” “We stand at the daybreak of freedom.”
Fact 4.... How Do We Know.... He's liken to Moses....
In what was to be his last speech, Dr. King drew from the biblical story of Moses: "Like anybody, I would like to live a long life ... But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain, and I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land."

Better opportunities and the Promise Land are two entirely different things.

The Nobel speech can not qualify the Mountain Top speech since it came before the Mountain Top speech. Think some times idiot. What he said in the Mountain Top speech is exactly what he meant.
Black Americans do not want racial justice from White America no more than the Children of Israel wanted racial justice from Pharaoh. Black Americans want from God what God did for the Children of Israel. And, what God did was gave the Children of Israel sovereignty by removing them out of the hands of Pharaoh and Black Americans want out of White America’s hands as well.
Black Americans don’t want any more protesting and fighting with White America. We want to be a country and a sovereign people as White America is.

i think it's safe to say ... he was indeed a prophet for the people in his era, he taught non violence and he believed in the federal government..
his struggle was for "equal rights" ... not segregated buses, restrooms, restaurants...
He campaigned for the poor people...
of course laws (whether we like them are not) are standards we as citizens must obey.
HOWEVER, "Negros" rights were then and today violated...
To go against the ideologies of society in the 50's .. 60's and even today... many Wishers whom still would like to strip people of color their basic fundamental rights.
Federal laws are intact to govern; however when the state and local authorities deny citizens equal protection, or law engforcement helps perpetuate these rights via discrimination (profiling, corruption, frameups)... does not ensure black americans protection.
Being a person of color....
many of my civil rights are violated almost on a daily basis.
However, today I still have to deal with some of the same oppressions my ancestors had.
Holocaust victims received reprations
Japanese....
African descendents haven't...
Yet thousands of slaves were stolen from their land their people
and brought here for perpetual slavery... this Nation was built from the blood, sweat, tears, fears, rapping, killing, brutality... (you get the picture)
I'll go further... but right now I've gotta "cool off"
and Yes... Dr. King likens to Moses... and like Moses - King too was a man...

As I was born in 1956, I lived through that period but was too young to understand it. Dr King was a product of his environment, and I did not fully comprehend that environment. When you are raised Christian it is very hard to not be formed by that particular upbringing.
Dr. King fought in the best way Dr. King knew how and he fought tirelessly. And he did achieve progress and he did face his death with courage and he didn't back down from the evil that opposed him.
It is now almost 45 years later. The progress that beckons us now is as you say, to oppose the false idea of Race. But the environment of Race still pervades our sociality. And the way to change that environment is with the Word, just as it was in the time of Dr. King. But the Word today is a different Word. The Word today is African American and European American. One day we may be able to say simply, American. The social problems are real, poverty, and lack of education. Will the Government take the lead in changing the Mind of the People? They will not. They still have the Race question on the Census.
Will the Government change the conditions of poverty and lack of education. They say they will, but they will not. Change can only come from the People acting as Persons.

Rep. John Connor I believe have been presenting this stupid reparation House Bill for the past 20 years and each time it never made it to the floor for debate.

So what! Moses did all that God had led him to do and that was to bring the Children of Israel out of Egypt.
Yes, the same happened to Dr. King because God knew how badly Dr. King wanted the same for his Black American people that God assured Dr. King it would happen, but he could not do it because Dr. King soul and spirit was committed to the faith and religion of the European Gentiles of Christian and that too is why God never anointed Dr. King as Black America’s prophet.

I can say in all honesty, As far as the very first religion philosophy teaches that Roman/Greek Mythology was the beginnings of religious worship ....

There seems to be alot of back and forth discussion in which David Johnson seems to be at the center.
David has been on BIA since January 2010. I happened to stumble across one of his blogs entitled WOLVES.... around August 2010. He had been posting all of that time and I noticed that he had not interacted with anyone on this site... SO I sent a request for his friendship..... In the Quran the battle Barr actually happened. In the Bible Moses bring in the Children of Israel out of Egypt actually happened.
When something actually happened it is not any ideology.

Hello Robert,
Another point Robert is that the Quran is the scriptures of the Arabian people. We Black Americans did write those scriptures. Those scriptures were written by the Arabian people themselves for the benefit of their future generation and for no other people.
Likewise, the same is true of the Bible. Those scriptures are for the Jewish and European Gentiles.
Black Americans are not written about in the Quran and the Bible as well. We Black Americans will soon begin to write our own scriptures since we have a genuine prophet in our midst.
That is the only way that people get scriptures, they must first have a prophet. And, it is forbben to borrow other people’s prophets. We must have our own prophet like the Arabian and the Jewish people had their own prophet. Do you understand?
You must come out of Islam and Ms. Jen must come out of Christianity as well.
