HOMETOWN MEMPHIS LIL' EXTRA!
surely isn't superannuated yet?
How could it be when you are
here and you keep reading
in Hometown...
"It's the first day of Spring
March 20, 2013
Well, people pep up!
Take your Spring tonic!
These stories may make you
Supersonic!
Here's the start....
OLD PYRAMID OF MEMPHIS
GETS A JOLT TO GROW
OCCUPANY THE NEW BASS PRO
Memphis, Tennessee
March 13
The Memphis Pyramid reflects a new day to grow as The Bass Pro store and complete shopping area will inhabit the triangle building. On the latest redesign it's putting up big shiny signs which makes some neighboring businesses a bit or a lot obsolete. Bass Pro wants to have big bright shinning lights of it's business around the front to advertise it's new store projects. Those in nearby sights are saying the signs are just too big and bold. The company disagrees and will not likely back down. Others in the city are wondering if their signs will meet the city ordinance for that downtown area.
"What's superannuated? Well, it seems small signs will be. There'll be bigger and newer ones it appears around an old pyramid in Memphis."
"Take another sip of tonic.. I've got another story for you."
SIX YEAR OLD DEFICIT
HAS A TENDER TO FIND
THE RIGHT FIT
BUT SOMEBODY WILL BE
LEFT BEHIND
Millington, TN
March 19
Millington, Tennessee Board of Aldermen are discussing ways to raise more money for a growing deficit which has the town struggling to keep well. Millington proposed to lay off 19 city offices employees and at least 12 officers. In addition, they are also looking at scratching away some public works jobs as well. This would help decrease chances of raising city taxes, however the big deficit is around 379,000 dollars. The city is troubled as the deficit is around 6 years in the making.
"Stir that in some warm water and add a drop of honey" "Honey, I feel the pain. More tonic for you!" AYE!
"Are you laughing? Okay, well it must be this great spring tonic."
So read this story too...
IN A TEARY SOB
THE SUPERINTENDENT
HAS LOST HIS JOB!
Shelby County, TN
March 19
Was a heartache and a tender felt cry as the Unified School Board decided to oust it's present Shelby County Superintendent, John Aitken. Aitken has served as superintendent for 3 fine long years, but the newly elected board of the unified schools has decided it's best he be retired to the old school house. Aitken sat with a few sobbing tears as he spoke that " No one should see a grown man cry." But cry he did and so did some others that listened to his sad goodbye. However, on his way out he will get his settlement contract of $320,000 dollars. Aitken said that he would give retirement a try and "check it out."
"Du...ugh!" With a settlement like that I think he's be a little less teary once he realizes that growing old and moving on can't be all bad, or even sad."
Hey! I'm feeling that's tonic now!...
"Is your speech geeting.. slurred?"
DON'T GET DISTURBED, JUST MOVE OUT
THAT OLD STORY WILL GET YOU
NO BEAUTIFUL HOUSE
Memphis, TN
March 08
Tabitha Gentry claimed her stake at a 600,000 dollar estate for a few weeks. Gentry filed a claim as owner of a foreclosure property in which she moved in the mansion and lived for several weeks. When it was discovered she was not the real owner but a squatter the Shelby County Police Department sought to catch up and evict her. Gentry said she was a sovereign citizen and did not have to go by laws of the U.S. or any city or state laws and that the house was legally hers. However, her time and story grew old and she was finally arrested on charges of burglary and breaking and entering. At her first arraignment she said she did nothing criminal but she could face up to 30 years in prison if found guilty.
"That's interesting?" " More of an old story like this one could take longer..."
"So here's a little extra spring tonic in her cup!"
Here's a goodbye ...

"Why it could be a reason you can improve your vocabulary!"
I'll let you look it up in yo' dictionaries. It shouldn't be retired just yet.
