FAREWELL TO MAYA ANGELOU
By Sister Siebra Muhammad
On the pulse of a May morning
a brave and startling truth
who knew why the caged bird sings left us
The rock cries out to us
for a phenomenal woman
who taught us to take time out
and learn the lesson of amazing peace
We remember the heart of a woman
who wouldn't take nothing for her journey
and showed us that when love is a scream of anguish
still like air we rise
We were touched by an angel who shared that
even the stars look lonesome
and that nobody, but nobody can make it out here alone
We gather together in her name
to remember not only a poet...
doctor...
author...
activist...
but a queen in her own right.
We miss you Marguerite...
