SUDANESE WOMAN RELEASED AFTER FACING POSSIBLE DEATH SENTENCE (462 hits)

In recent months news stories around the globe issued concerned of a woman convicted to death because she reverted to follow Christianity as her faith . The woman also married a Christian husband in 2011 was arrested and faced death in prison while her case was being presented to save her life. The apostasy case is not new in Sudan and many woman are subjected the death penalty when changing from the being a Muslim. Today's released from the judge gave her freedom from prison and the death penalty with hard intensive work from her defense lawyers. All this follows with gratifying news after many from around the world thought the sentence was strongly engaged as far as her having to die or be imprisoned. During her prison term Meriam Ibraham gave birth to a new baby and lived with her other child behind bars. Ibraham case provides some change, however, because of national attention may have had some bearing on her outcome. Many women have only escaped the death sentence by returning to the Muslim faith in order to live. The law of the land requires that women follow the faith of their fathers, or be executed for apostasy. This law mainly affects women who decide to change faiths. Much attention is being drawn to Sudan's laws in addition to much attention drawn among faiths.

UPDATE: 06.24.2014
Just hours after being released, Mrs. Ibraham was arrested along with her family at the airport because her flight papers were incorrect. However, the sources said she would be only detained on for a temporary time. It was said she was not permitted to contact her law counselors.
