WATCH CNN: President Obama will deliver a statement on the situation in Ukraine at 11:30 a.m. ET today at the White House press briefing room, the White House says.

His comments come a day after a Malaysia Airlines jet crashed in eastern Ukraine.

Preliminary classified U.S. intelligence analysis has concluded that the missile that hit Flight 17 most likely was fired by pro-Russian separatists inside eastern Ukraine, according to a U.S. defense official with direct access to the latest information.

One Ajax man (Canadian) was on board Malaysia Airlines plane

A 24-year-old man from Ajax(, Ontario in Canada) was on board a Malaysia Airlines plane that was downed over Ukraine Thursday, according to a report by The Canadian Press. Sorin Anghel told the news wire that his son Andrei was in medical school in Romania but was travelling to Bali on the flight for a vacation. Officials previously confirmed that at least one Canadian was among the 298 people killed when the plane went down.

Pres. Obama has just started speaking and one American has been verified on board the aircraft, Quin L Shotsman (spelling). My Lord have mercy on his loved ones and family. God have mercy! It looks like President Obama is calling this an International crisis with many Nations on board the MH 17 and is looking to the International Support and resources and not the United States alone to go this investigation. (Smart move) He's also being careful not to directly indicate Russia and he's being very diplomatic. I know in my heart though that Russia has its hands it in.

President Barack Obama said today that the Malaysia Airlines plane in Ukraine was shot down and is an "outrage of unspeakable proportion."

He identified one American who died in the crash as Quinn Lucas Schansman.

He also said that pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine have received a "steady flow" of arms and training from Russia, including anti-aircraft weapons.

The President called for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine between the Kiev government and pro-Russian rebels in eastern regions so that an international investigation can proceed with no tampering of evidence.
