Fireworks exploded in the air with smoke, ash and popping on I-94 near Galesburg and Kalamazoo, Michigan. The accident was caused by a car and truck and ignited a trailer truck carrying 140,000 pounds of fireworks. The chain reaction caused at least 170 cars to pile up. There was also reported 1 fatality. Rescue crews assisted in quenching the fires and writing out reports of accidents. Hours later another pile up car trailed which reported 1 fatality and 1 critical injured on U.S. Route 23 near Ann Harbor, Michigan involving 30 vehicles. Both accidents were blamed on road conditions of snow and ice.
