Slavery in America was a lucrative institution for European people. It generated profits from commodities like cotton and sugar. Slaves from the continent of Africa streamed into America in chains. After the chains were lifted black Americans had been beated down to submittal and willingly accepted the slavemasters religion as their own.
It was the early 1900s when a challenge to the white people's religion began to stir the emotions of Black Americans. This is the time when Black folk in America began to question to authority of the Christian Religion. Islam came on the scene during the effects of the great depression of 1929 when blacks accross America were out of work and out of money. Soup lines were extensive. Black sought a way out of a most difficult times to be living. It was then when a spokesman for Islam became on the scene.
Islam resonated with black people in the sense of linking to ancestry. Through Islam, black Americans could see themselves connected to Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Blacks converting to Islam had to change their whole lifestyle from their beliefs to their diet. It made for a complete makeover. In fact, Islam had such a profound effect on black Americans, it was personified with personalities like Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X.
Freedom for black people was initially not so beneficial for black woman and they had to work the streets. Prostitution was a viable alternative for too many young black women. Islam instilled respect back into black american women and took them off the street corners across America. It was just that powerful. Black women began to see themselves as queens and princesses.
Black men in American hustled the streets and pimped their women for money after slavery. The life of the pimp was lucrative and had its appeal to the black youth. Islam cleaned up the black male and caused him to give up the life of a pimp. It was Islam that forced the black male to give up pumping crack cocaine and heroin into black folk. Modesly speaking, cleaned up the Black man in America to give up vices so he could concenttate on how to become a king of his planet once again,
