Okay I know when we think of love songs, we always think of the ladies being sappy and in love, but you haven’t seen anything until you watch a man fall in love. Men might do it in the privacy of their own homes, but we get just as sappy and all those love songs start speaking to us too. Maybe it was just me…now I KNOW it wasn’t just me…but I remember being on the phone for hours with the slow jams playing in the background, as I tried to court my lady! I know the songs may vary with the age group but nevertheless everybody has a few they can remember!
Here are a few that spoke to my soul as I was falling love and I hope you will share yours with us too.
“Pretty Brown Eyes” Mint Condition
This song was for when you knew you two could be something but she was so afraid to get hurt because her ex-boyfriend was a jerk. You were just trying to get her to give you a chance!
“Pretty brown eyes listen to love your heart is pounding with desire waiting to be unleashed…quit breaking my heart!”
“Beauty” Dru Hill
It’s almost like this song just started playing out of nowhere when she walked by. She was beautiful and all you hoped was that she wasn’t seeing someone else.
“Walks by me every day, her and love are the same; the woman that’s stolen my heart, and beauty is her name! I hope that I can make you mine before another man steals your heart but once your beauty is mine I swear we will never be apart!”
“Gotta Be” Jagged Edge
This song just came after you had already fallen and had to let her know that youhad to be the one for her, and her the one for you.
“I gotta be the one you touch, baby I gotta be the one you love; I gotta be the one you feel, and I gotta be the one to fill your life with sunshine!”
“They Don’t Know” Jon B
This was every ex-players song when he was trying to become reformed and settle down with the girl he was crushing on.
“Don’t listen to what people say they don’t know about, ‘bout you and me, put it out your mind ‘cuz it’s jealousy they don’t know about this here!
“All I Do” Troop
This had you thinking about how much you actually couldn’t wait to get to school each day just to run into the girl you were crushing so hard on. You had her schedule down pat and made sure you ran into her (“by accident” of course)!
“All I do is think of you day and night, I can’t get you off my mind, think about you all the time, all the time!”
“Cupid” 112
112 had us telling the ladies they needed to take a chance on love because cupid wouldn’t lie to us.
“Cupid doesn’t lie, but you won’t know unless you give it a try, true love won’t lie but we won’t know unless we give it a try!”
“If It Isn’t Love” New Edition
I had to close it out with a bang and please don’t act like you never tried to do this choreography either. New Edition had you dancing and in love all at the same time!
“If it isn’t love, why do I feel this way, why does she stay on my mind? And if it isn’t love, why does it hurt so bad, make me feel so sad inside?!”
BONUS: “Sweet Lady” Tyreese
This was every woman’s weakness. All you had to do was let her know you wanted her to be your lady and this song said it all.
“Sweet lady would you be my, sweet love for a lifetime, I’ll be there when you need me, just call and receive me!”
