What we know so far:
•Andrea Constand, Bill Cosby’s first accuser, has asked a judge to release the comedian’s full deposition in her s*x-assault lawsuit, which resulted in a confidential 2006 court settlement.
•Excerpts show Cosby admitting that he obtained quaaludes in the 1970s so that he could give them to young women he pursued for extramarital s*x.
•Constand’s lawyer wants the answers made public to 50 questions Cosby was asked about his lifestyle, drug use and s*xual encounters with 13 other “Jane Doe” women who had come forward to say the comedian had molested, and, perhaps drugged, years earlier.
•The accounts of some of the women substantiated the defendant’s alleged predilection for somnophilia, Constand’s lawyer writes. (The term describes a predilection for sXx with an unconscious person.)
•Cosby has never been charged with a crime and has repeatedly denied the allegations.
•Most of the accusations that more than a dozen women have made against him happened too long ago for criminal charges, as the encounters go back to the mid-1960s.
•Los Angeles police have said there is at least one open criminal investigation, but declined to give details because the case continues.
•Because statutes of limitation have expired in almost all the cases, accusers have turned to civil courts to file lawsuits against Cosby, and the new development may inspire more.
•Model Janice ****inson has sued the comedian for defamation over statements by his representatives that called her claims the comedian raped her in 1982 lies.
•A group supporting s*xual assault victims is petitioning President Barack Obama to revoke Bill Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom.
