Hey isn’t that… music moguls Russell Simmons and P. Diddy (a.k.a. Sean Combs); rappers J. Cole and Snoop Dogg; comedian Dave Chappelle; and “Empire” star Bryshere Y. Gray among the thousands commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March on Saturday?
The boldfacers listened at the “Justice or Else” rally on the Mall as Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who organized the original 1995 rally and its anniversary, preached for nearly two hours on a wide range of issues from foul language to the Black Lives Matter movement. “There must come a time when we say enough is enough,” Farrakhan, 82, told the crowd, which included the families of slain teens Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.
Many of the famous faces, including Cole and Diddy, who was in town just last week for Howard University’s homecoming, showed up wearing hooded sweatshirts, which have become a sign of solidarity with Black Lives Matter. For his part, Snoop, who has adopted Rastafarianism in 2013, was dressed in a button down and black bow tie, an obvious sartorial nod to the Nation of Islam.
