When you craft a novel, do not write and edit at the same time! They are two different aspects of composing a novel. It is like driving a car while pumping the gas pedal and the breaks at the same time. First, write and get your ideas on paper: complete storyline. Do not worry about grammar, conventions…just write. Second, when you have finished the first rough draft of your novel; then edit mistakes. A great writer once said: “Write garbage and then edit brilliantly.”
Writing Tip: Write first and then edit.
