Coors Light Kicks Off Football Season With Support of HBCU Classics (2696 hits)

Coors Light continues its commitment to HBCUs by, providing $100,000 in scholarship donations

For Coors Light, the return of football season also means the return of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Classics season. Coors Light kicked off its long-standing support of HBCUs on September 10th with the Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis and the Chicago Football Classic in the Windy City.

For more than 25 years, Coors Light has remained committed to the HBCU community, supporting higher education, civic leadership and economic empowerment. Coors Light will award each participating school with $10,000 scholarships that will benefit juniors and seniors 21 years of age and older. In the last seven years, the brand has invested more than $1 million to provide much needed resources to these schools.

“Historically Black Colleges and Universities play such a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders. We’re proud to continue our partnership with the HBCU Football Classics, and support higher education,” said Steve Canal, national community affairs manager for MillerCoors. “The HBCU Classics are an excellent way to celebrate the heritage, culture and unique experience that make these institutions great.”

In addition to the donations, Coors Light will host a VIP tailgate experience at six HBCU football classics, where alumni 21 and older can reunite and enjoy an ice cold Coors Light before cheering on their favorite HBCU teams and bands. At select Classics, fans will experience the Coors Light “Battle of the s*xes” hosted on a live soundstage by the “Lifestyle Specialist” Kenny Burns and tunes pumped by renowned deejays Traci Steele and D-Nice. About Coors Brewing Company
Coors Brewing Company was founded in 1873 by Adolph Coors, who chose the Clear Creek Valley in Golden, Colo., for his new brewery because of the pure water in the nearby Rocky Mountain springs. The brewery’s original and most enduring beer is Coors Banquet (Coors.com, Facebook.com/CoorsBanquet), still brewed exclusively in Golden using only Rocky Mountain water and high-country barley. Coors Light (CoorsLight.com, Facebook.com/CoorsLight, @CoorsLight on Twitter) was introduced in 1978 and now is the second-best-selling beer in the United States. Triple-filtered smooth Keystone Light (KeystoneLight.com, Facebook.com/KeystoneLight) is one the country’s most popular economy beers. Coors Brewing Company operates in the United States and Puerto Rico as part of MillerCoors, a joint venture of SABMiller plc and Molson Coors Brewing Company.
