Action Alert: Hearing on SB 185 -
Intellectual Disability and the Death Penalty
Notice From Georgia Catholics Against the Death Penalty (GACADP)
Friends - SB 185 has been introduced in the Georgia Senate by Senator Elena Parent and Co-Sponsored by Senator Fran Millar, Senator Vincent Fort and Senator Nan Orrock and Senator Horacena Tate. SB 185 will change the standard of proof placed on individuals with intellectual disabilities in death penalty cases in Georgia from "Beyond A Reasonable Doubt" to Preponderance of the Evidence.
Action:
Sb185 has been scheduled for a hearing in Sub-Committee B of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, March 1. This is the first hurdle to moving the bill to passage. Please try to come support the bill if you can. Regardless, please share widely with your networks.
The hearing will take place: Wednesday March 2, 1017 at 4pm
