The Academy Awards is the industry's longest running awards presentations viewed annually by over millions of people across the globe.
The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars are a set of 24 awards for artistic and technical merit in the American film industry, given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette, officially called the "Academy Award of Merit", which has become commonly known by its nickname "Oscar".
As I often mention one of the highlights of being an entertainment correspondent and red carpet host is wearing beautiful clothing by some of the industry's most well known and respected designers. This year I decided to partner with Retania Drain for my awards season coverage who like myself is an alumnus from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Through a series of text, phone calls, emails, trips for fittings to Retania's design studio in Philadelphia she came up with was a beautiful, soft, high glamorous silhouette that captured the attention of a global audience during my coverage at the 90th Academy Awards held in Hollywood, Ca. The gown Retania designed for me under her label Ann Luchade made a statement amongst my media colleagues and the Hollywood Elite and even garnered praises by "BLACK PANTHER" costume designer Ruth Carter who masterminded the designs for the number #1 box office showstopper.
