What does home look like to you? Military life comes with unique challenges — like frequent moves, or parents who deploy for months and sometimes years at a time — that can make picturing home a little more difficult for military-connected kids. But they aren’t so different from their civilian peers. Military and civilian children have the same needs, hopes, fears, and dreams — and we all need a place to call home.
During the Month of the Military Child, we’re asking kids in grades 1-12 across the country — military-connected and civilian alike — to tell us what home means to them. In a photograph, a piece of art, or in writing, we invite you to tell us how you picture home. Get creative! We want to hear your unique voice.
Beginning in April, we’ll share selected submissions widely — both on our website and on social media. With a variety of pictures, thoughts, and photos side by side, we hope to bring together a diverse network of military-connected and civilian families, and enable communities to better support the well-being of military kids and teens around the world.
