Believe it Steve, I just heard of this term just this morning that ORLANDO, Fla. — Ron DeSantis, the Republican nominee for governor in Florida, faced a backlash on Wednesday for saying in a television interview that his state should not "monkey this up" by electing his Democratic rival Andrew Gillum, who is African-American.

Steve, Republican gubernatorial nominee Ron DeSantis said Florida voters should not “monkey this up” by embracing the agenda offered by Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum.
Gillum would be the state’s first black governor.
As you should know already that this References to African-Americans as monkeys have a long history as a racist slur.
Now DeSantis' did mention in an interview of how Andrew Gillum is "articulate" and urging voters not to "monkey this up" played to racist stereotypes.
Steve, if this is the case, We need to silence the dog whistles, and don't say we don't hear it, because many of us have heard this so many times before. Steve, this racist dog whistle carries a message that indicate social status, uphold Republican values, enforce capitalistic ideals and value Whiteness. This dog whistle is telling other weak white people in Florida to vote for the white man, I am your man and that Black man will not mess up this state.

When did members of each group decide to join the event? Just as in our prior post, we used the Facebook public API to collect data about “Unite the Right” event attendance. We began collecting data on June 20, 2017 and ran our final data collection on August 8, 2017. We collected data about who had stated they were going to the event, as well as what other social media groups those attendees are in.
