
On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, President of the United States Donald J. Trump announced the nomination of Robert A. Dixon of Washington D.C., to serve as United States Marshal for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Robert Dixon was most recently the Director of Investigations for the Department of Labor’s Office of the Inspector General, retiring in 2016. Mr. Dixon began his career with the Department of Labor in 1980 and has served in law enforcement for more than 30 years.

Robert Anthony Dixon, aka Tony, (Alpha Rho, Fall 1978; Morehouse 1981) began his law enforcement career as a Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Labor Management Standards. He was recruited by and transferred to DOL’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) where he quickly rose to the rank of Senior Special Agent. After a brief OIG field career, he was successively promoted to the organization’s posts of Deputy Director of Program Fraud; Director of Program Fraud; Director of Labor Racketeering; and, ultimately, Director of Investigations, the first and only African American to hold the position.
