- [ ] Flashback on June 11th, 2024 “The City of New Orleans Declared” this day to be recognized as “Back That Azz Up Day” a “Proclamation” was issued by “The Honorable” Mayor LaToya Cantrell. This was a historical moment for Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and Mannie Fresh - all three are natives of New Orleans.

The genre of “Southern Soul Music” has been streaming for years however its the latest craze with “Trailride” and “Hip Hop” influenced that has the genre popping across the country. But how long will the 1990 hip hop rappers, cowboy boots, line dancing and fans last in building a music legacy for our future generations. As we know and have heard many industry experts suggest the genre of “Southern Soul” cannot stand alone going forward.
Today across America there are award shows, concerts and music events/conferences, popping up simultaneously all indicating they are affiliated with “Southern Soul,” but in reality it’s the opposite they are not associated with the movement.
Since the beginning of the movement the genre has been unable to form any type of alliance due to greed, as currency is the driving force and or egos amongst the “gatekeepers.” Also the lack of respect for everyone that has been involved with “Southern Soul” also continues to undermine the integrity of the movement.
As we get into “Digital Marketing,” many artists and others do not understand the value nor the importance of “Self Branding.” So they allow others to promote their work and brand across social media platforms. But, is this an effective strategy or should we say more effective for one party than the other?!
We will continue to elaborate “STOP” relaying on promoters or someone else to promote your product or brand. We are living In a digital world everyone should be self sufficient and able to manifest and develop themselves. Basically, if it doesn’t elevate both entities, then don’t consider the partnership.
The summer vibes are upon us and the summer will be a blast across the South Region with trailrides, and local community events featuring some of the best “SS” artists. These free local events in one way give an artists the opportunity to share their talents with their local community in an effort to promote the artists. In addition, these types of events help the artist build a dedicated local audience since demographics are crucial to the longevity of the “SS” music, and movement.
So, if you have ever desired to express yourself as a singer or musician join the movement! And when you do, do yourself a favor, show up, and show out, because you only live once let the “SS” vibes take you there. If you haven’t heard already people get ready for the “Southern Soul Movement” cliques as the entertainment continues from club to club, city to city, and coast to coast with individuals being enlisted daily.
Yes, because they will be “Backing That Thang Up” with them “Boots on the Ground” worldwide, in the meantime support the music and the movement!
