Florida A&M University's College of Education Earns CAEP Reaccreditation Through 2032 (573 hits)

Florida A&M University’s College of Education has once again affirmed its national leadership in teacher preparation by earning full accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) through Spring 2032. This distinguished reaccreditation at the initial-licensure level underscores the College’s commitment to academic excellence, rigorous standards, and the preparation of highly effective educators for Florida and beyond.

“This recognition by CAEP is more than a mark of compliance—it is a reaffirmation of Florida A&M University’s historic legacy in preparing dedicated high-quality educators,” said Interim President Timothy Beard, Ph.D. “We are proud that our College of Education continues to uphold the highest standards in preparing future teachers who will shape and transform lives across the nation.”

The CAEP Accreditation Council officially granted the reaccreditation following its April 2025 meeting, citing that the College met all required standards. The comprehensive review process examined FAMU’s educator preparation programs and confirmed that each met the high benchmarks across critical areas, including content and pedagogical knowledge, clinical partnerships, candidate quality, stakeholder satisfaction, fiscal capacity, and compliance with federal requirements.

“This reaccreditation reflects the high caliber of scholarship, innovation and collaboration that define our faculty, staff, and students,” said Sarah Price, Ph.D., dean of the College of Education. “It affirms that our programs are producing educators who are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of today’s classrooms and communities.”

The seven-year accreditation term applies to the College’s undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs that lead to initial teacher licensure. These include specialized degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, music, physical education, physics, social science education, and English, as well as elementary and Pre-K/primary education with ESOL and reading endorsements.

CAEP is recognized as the sole national accreditor for educator preparation, and its standards are designed to ensure that programs produce graduates who are classroom-ready and capable of making a positive impact on student learning.
