Right now, in the Sudan, the government is refusing to arrest those accused of genocide, Ahmad Muhammad Harun, Ali Kushayb, and Omar Hassan al-Bashir. They are being accused of various crimes against humanity. (See pictures below of some of the victims.)
Sudan has been at war with itself for almost its entire post-colonial history. More splintered, but, the war is usually characterized as a fight between the southern non-Arab Black African populations and the northern Arab-dominated government.
Today's conflict is the third civil war for this region. The first Civil War-1955-1972. The second one was 1983-2005. Some 4-million people have been forced away from their homes in the Sudan with no way to feed themselves through growing food or earning money. Malnutrition and starvation is widespread, not to say the absence of educational opportunities or access to basic health care services.
