Obama Denounces New Song and Video By Rapper Ludacris (3180 hits)

Barack Obama's presidential campaign says a new song by supporter and rapper Ludacris is "outrageously offensive" to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Republican Sen. John McCain and President Bush.

The song brags about an Obama presidency being destiny. It uses an expletive to describe Clinton, calls Bush "mentally handicapped" and says McCain doesn't belong in "any chair unless he's paralyzed."

The lyrics don't spare the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who recently apologized for making crude comments about Obama. "If you said it then you meant it," intones the rapper.

Great post, Dante. I posted the exact video earlier in my blog, Is Ludacris helping or hurting Obama?. You know I like Ludacris' heart. I believe he's trying to help. And he's proud that someone that looks more like him could become so powerful. He's trying to do what he can to help. But, this country is just getting comfortable with the idea of having a black man as president. I think we need to save portions of our cultural influence for the celebration, if there is one.

I think from The Stand Point of Obama position he has to be above the fry of these types of media messages because of the scrutiny he would come under if he came out and said I agree with everything Luda said on the video. But I know he appreciates the support and probably in the privacy of his inner most circle he may even agree with some of it.

Well another supporter of Obama is putting their foot in their mouths. I am sure none of Obama supporters are intending to hurt Obama when they ridicule his opponents, but they have to be careful how their words affect his position. Bernie Mac, Ludacris, and a host of other supporters have Obama enjoying their support while denouncing their opinions.

Personally, I feel that Ludacris is attempting to support Obama in this upcoming election, however, anything that could jepordize potential votes should be avoided at this time. When we make comments such as those spoken by Ludacris, then we are no better than the media and the supporters of the opposing candidate. We should represent not only Obama but our race with intelligence. I enjoy the talents of Ludacris, but as an artist, he should give our youth a more more enriching way to discuss the election. The majority of issues regarding this presidency have in some form or fashion included discussions about race. Ludacris should have realized the effect of this video beforehand. I say that we are all proud of Obama's accomplishments and should voice our support and opinions AT THE POLLS.

President-Elect Obama should not have to answer to every comment that a person may make. The Ludacris song is his personal opinion. There are many others, Black, White or otherwise who make uneducated comments which lack integrity and common sense. Whether they support President-Elect Obama or not. Ludacris is speaking from his level of understanding and has not considered the effect on our newly elected president. Let us focus on what needs to be done and how to produce the change that was promoted during the campaign. We put too much energy discussing irrelevant information. Knowledge is King, An Uneducated tongue creates much havoc. Every one teach one. Then maybe we can truly create change in which we think five times before we speak and speak with dignity. Words are powerful. Share your wisdom with the less fortunate. It is time for true Peace on Earth. God Bless
