PART VI- Abortion

Okay my people, where are we on the issue of abortion stuff?

Here's the example. Lil' mis' Boomkesha Hennessy Jenkins (age 14) is pregnant with her second child. Before you start picking up rocks to throw at "kesha", she has been molested by her 27 her old 1st cousin since she was 11 years old. Every one in the family knows, but noone has done a thing!

She lives with her mother and 3 sisters in a housing project (you pick the inner-city). She is on state assistance but wants to go back to school....some day...oh yeah...Kesha is very smart.

In many Black houses the topic of abortion is taboo.
What say you?

If Kesha wants to have an abortion can she or should she bring home one more baby?

People can say what they want when they are not in the position this little girl is.
She is the one that has to deal with this and the one that will have to answer for her decision.

She should have the abortion if that is what she wants to do. If is obvious that the adults in her family don't have her best interest at heart. While she is at it, she needs to inform her doctor about what in the world has been going on in the home. I am amazed that the family is more willing to keep this rapist protected than this little girl. I say little girl because her childhood was stolen, being smart does not change that.

I'm totally surprised that youth services did not come knocking when she started missing school.

In our inner-cities...sadly this is norm...not the exception!

In some African-American and Mexican-American communities, city leaders are calling teen pregnancy an epidemic. And in many cases the so called fathers are adult men (and in some cases relatives).

The issue for us is abortion...our Black taboo. We need to be able to talk about it openly. Not talking about something doesn't make it go away.

This is not just a inner city taboo. I don't completely agree with it, but all situations are very different and in this case I would have to say that if this young girl does not want to have the baby of her rapist she should not be forced to do it.

First, that 27 year old man would be under the jail. Second, abortion is Boomkeesha's decision and her decision only! And she should be given all the information on the pros and cons, from the government family planning dept. And given the abusive family dynamic, everyone should forgive her, no matter which option she chooses. I fail to know, however, with what seems to be a financially handicapped family, where they would get the money for this. Are abortions free or something?

Unfortunately, she's already at a disadvantage with baby #1, baby #2 only makes her road exceptionally harder. Don't we all see that part of the problem with our black kids (especially young black males) lying dead in the streets is because they come from families with no parental guidance. No one is bringing them to church, teaching good morals, implanting the fear of God in them and teaching them respect. This epidemic must stop. How is she going to fulfill her education with two little ones to take care--what happens when children are neglected--I don't think further explanation is required.

What if she went to your place of worship, school, etc... Would you talk to her about abortion? Is this a topic that we are comfortable discussing with others?

I'm surprised. Few mentioned the scum who was committing this incest and the family members who let it go on. I find that over and over again, we only deal with the resullt of problems in our communities, not the cause.

I believe Keesha as a young woman has the right to make that decision for herself however there's obviously a desperate need for s*x education. Keesha should be provided with an opportunity to reside in a much healthier environment surrounded by people to support her emotionally and mentally as well as physically in the way of helping her care for her children. Not only should she be allowed to finish school, college and pursue a career she needs to be taught to do all of the above and be a strong mother. She doesn't need to be judged or ostracized, the babies are here now and she needs positive reinforcement.

This situation is actually very common, yet no one talks about it. A couple of my uncles have been sent to prison or are in prison due to molestation. I feel that is the bigger issue. Whether or not the young girl should have an abortion is neither here nor there. That's her decision. The question should be what are we as a community going to do about the s*xual abuse that is now or has been rampant? No one talks about. If they see it happening they ignore it. Then we look at the young girls who becomes s*xually promiscuous and condemn them, when they are just trying to deal with what has been put upon them. What should we as a people, as a community do about the abuse in the first place? How do we protect our young girls and boys?

I agree that incest and molestation are other areas of Black taboo. As a people, our ethnic groups need to deal with these problems!

We are destroying our future by allowing Uncle Ray Ray to violate our babies. Sadly, in many cases little Ray Ray was violated as a boy...

Personally I'm against abortion. Now that question is out of the way... you loaded this post with your example, even if it is the truth... a 14 year old girl barely knows what her body is capable of, much less the finality of an abortion! Second, the first child she had should be put up for adoption or, at the very least sent to a trusted relative, and hopefully safe from being preyed upon by the pedophile. Third... I'm against pedophilia as well. So... if you want to talk about abortion. talk about abortion being an option for someone that has the mental capacity to make such hard decisions. Using a 14 yr old girl is an emotional ploy!

The Creator knows exactly what He is doing, the created have a problem understanding that. Of course she has the process that the Creator has begun, her free will and the free will of the family and cousin now are tested. Thats why the Creator has created Earth, Heaven and Hellfire.
