Hello my name is Brother Marcus and I host an Internet Radio Show called, The Brother Marcus Show. As I have gone throughout america doing my Motivational Speaking thing I have had a number of conversations with both brothers and sisters. One of the main things that keeps coming up is black women seem to think that black men are somehow intimidated by them. We know that intimidation means the act of intimidating a weaker person to make them do something. I want to ask the black in america audience, what do you think? Are black men intimidated by the black woman? Are black women intimidated by black men in any way? If so, then why? If they aren't then why aren't they? Thank you in advance for your kind participation! By the way, my Internet Radio address is: www.blogtalkradio.com/brothermarcusshow

Good evening Marcus and BIA Family, I don't believe most brothers are intimidated by sisters. Well not the brothers who are self-sufficient and feel that they bring something to the table. But on the other hands there are brothers who are maybe not intimidated but they are less secure with who they are against a sister who seems to be doing her "thang". Most men feel which they should that they are to be the provider. So when that is taken away sometimes it can lessen a man's ego or character ( he feels that way). Etana

Interesting topic. I personally am not intimidated by sisters as I am confident and comfortable with who I am and the path I am taking to continually improve. What is frustrating though is that unfortunately, various societal challenges has helped to create an era of the misconception that we (brothers and sisters) do not need one another to continually strengthen our race. Instead, we attack one another when opportunities arise instead of working thru the issue. Personally, I feel that we live in a microwave mentally type of society where we want things right away with little or no work put into preparing the dish. I too have been guilty of this in the past and I welcome suggestions as I truly love my Nubian Sisters and I want nothing more than to find, fulfill and share my life with the right Queen...

This is a much needed topic. As a female Minister, Teacher, Musician, Leader, this has been a hurdle to overcome and I really do not have the complete answer yet. This is what drew me to this discussion. I would like to know. As an Independent sistah, coming from a family of five-brothers and 2 sisters. I've always had a competitive spirit in a good way about me, meaning I've always wanted to do my best at what ever I undertook. If it is bowling I want to get as many strikes as I can and I don't want to deliberately bowl the gutter just to make my male partner feel that he's the better bowler. Instead I want him to do his best who ever wins and not feel less. I'm talking real talk here. I've ran into men not wanting to receive because they thought I was trying to take the leadership role. So some of us women become wise to the fact and seek a way to continue our growth without making the male spouse or friend feel intimidated. We are wanted to go for the Gold. We are looking for supporters to say go girl, as we are always say go boy go. Esther (Identity Theft Specialist http://www.estherpinkston.com)
