What are the challenges of Blending Families in 2008? (684 hits)

I am also speaking this weekend on Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia on the subject, “Blending Families in 2008”. Has anyone experienced this out there? Is it hard and difficult? I think when you speak of a blended family, you need to define it first. What do you mean by blended family? Does that refer to blending a family interracially? Does that speak of same-s*x unions? Does that speak of uniting someone parentless with a mate who has children? In any event, relationships really are all the same. We all want and need the same things. Nurturing a family requires the same efforts and level of commitment regardless of that family’s make up. Getting to know each other and learning how to relate to one another, and understanding the concept of compromise, and recognizing that not everyone sees things as you do, are paramount virtues in sustaining the family bond. How ever we define the term blended may not even matter. How you keep that family together and cemented requires the same sharing of one’s self no matter what we mean by blended. There is no difference.
