A dear friend of mine shared this riddle with me and 80 % of kindergarten students got the answer, compared to 17% of some college seniors. What is greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it and the rich need it, and if you eat it you’ll die? NOTHING is the answer. Nothing is greater than God. Nothing is more evil than the devil. The poor have nothing. The rich need nothing. If you eat nothing you will die.
There is this song that at one time in America was quite popular. It says, “Nothing from nothing leaves nothing, you got to have something if you want to be with me…” Nobody wants to be around a person when they have nothing going for them and nothing to offer. Well, Jesus is more than everything and everything belongs to him. If you want to have more to offer besides nothing, then get with Jesus. He specializes in taking a nothing and making SOMETHING very special.
