As long you are not living a life from inside of someone else's vision, it is probably your own and you are living life for yourself. We are not always aware of what our purpose is, but by living our life through our higher power we are actually living life from something within.
Actually no I don't. My life is not my own. I believe that we are all here for a purpose a reason and a goal. I believe that we were made for each other and not for ourselves. In some form or fashion, we are either doing something for, with, to someone with a goal in mind. (Maybe now we can really come together and make something happen!!! (Yes We Can)
Everything that has ever been made was made with a purpose in mind. From something as small as a needle to someone like Barak Obama, we all have a purpose in live. So truly our life is not our own. I believe the issue lies in knowing what that purpose is and the choice to carry it out.
As far as living to my fullest potential? I would say that is still a work in progress. I live each day trying to top the day before.. If one ever reaches that so called Plato in life, what else is there to strive for??? How can one truly reach their fullest potential when nothing stays the same? There is always something newer, something bigger and something better. There is always something new to learn. I heard it said once “If you ever stop learning you stop living” I agree with that statement whole heartily.
Finally, I can honestly say that I do not live my life according to someone’s (human) visions and dreams. I also believe that happiness is in the moment and can change rather quickly, so I choose to live my life in JOY. For the joy I have the world did not give it to me and the world can’t take it away!!!!! Wonderful thought provoking post SG.
This is a very thought provoking response which shows that you have a mind of your own and that you are willing to be strong enough for yourself to be strong enough for others. I don't think that I could contribute to your strength without contributing to my own strength first.
Each day that you wake up to do better than the prior day is a sign of using your potential, if you are able to do the best that you can each day and grow from that progress the following day, you are truly living. I agree that "If you ever stop learning you stop living." and one of my favorite statements is 'If you stop growing, you slowly start dying."
Living YOUR life in JOY is a great thing, and even if someone else doesn't share YOUR JOY they can never take it away.
Thank you for commenting and sharing your JOY.

Wonderful post... I can't say that I'm honestly living my life to the fullest because sometimes I don't know what it is that I'm supposed to be doing. I do however know that I'm not living anybody's dreams.
I do what presents itself to me at the time and makes me happy.
