This article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/opinion/... pertains to how in the Deep South racial tendencies still exist toward African Americans. This article also depicts how Southern White Senators are attacking Obama calling him the coded name "uppity" which was used in the South to describe an African American who was affluent in education, self pride and class status. Most young African Americans don't realize that during the times before the Civil Rights movement these Affluent African Americans were targeted and sometimes killed because some Southern White Americans didn't want other African Americans to feel that they could one day become successful. Have you wondered why this year the debates are located in the Deep South? Think! The first debate is this Friday night it's located in Mississippi where the KKK resides today. This is also one of the state's that Civil Rights activist were killed. Remember the movie, "Mississippi Burning," that depicted the struggles of Black America in Mississippi. The next debate is in Tennessee, the original place where the KKK was founded. Tennessee's KKK also in credited with the "Racist” film, "Birth of a Nation", which put most of the stereotypes that plague African Americans today. This season being election season I think that people should be more informed about the issue of race and how it will affect this election. I beg each African American on this site to get involved in registering African Americans who are not registered. I also ask that each person to make sure their community goes out to vote by calling, car pooling, and starting voter get out to vote groups in their community. My question is, "What is you doing in your community to make sure each person is being heard and What can you do to help America stop judging Black America by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character?
