THE STEIFF ON THE MOUNTAIN TEDDY BEAR FESTIVAL--Galax, VA
October 10-12, 2008
That's right, it's a teddy of a bear good time. This festival will be held at the Galax Recreation Center 601 So. Main Street in Galax, VA. Never been there befo, but sounds like a pretty place.. Anyhow, you can bring yo family to the beautiful mountains of Viriginia to see them da teddy bears growlin and stuff. Did you get that "stuff" they are "stuffed bears" ya know. This benefits a great cause and a super organizatin called UNITED WAY. You'll be greeted with open bare hands by Mr. John Lamb who is ah...the "Teddy Bear Mystery " writer with his brand new book. "Lamb and bear" No, that's not the title of his new book! What I meant is a man name Lamb writes bout bears! fo get that! Have you got a Steiff Bear? They're collectables just in case you didn't know.. that. The showcase will have unique and vintage Steiff Bears, and other items from private collecters. Gifts and door prizes too! There will be a live band performing but it anin't "No bad news bears" this band is called " No Speed Limit! Crank it up! Sounds like a mighty bear of a time. I'm tied of these stuffed bears. Grrr.......YIPES! Let's run far them there hills!

OCTOBERFEST AT COOPER'S LANDING INN AND TRAVELER'S TAVERN--Clarkville, VA
If you live nearby or passing thru, stop INN! They're having an Octoberfest at the tavern! If you enjoy beer, which I'm being a Southern Belle, I'll pass it up. But, there will be a German Beer Tasting goings on there. "Good'n Tagg!" That's Good Morning in country German. Mmm... This tavern has all the German's having a good time. The Octoberfest will feature also, beside the beer, a German Beer Garden and Music, with German dancing! "Cornel Klink! may I have the next dance!!" Here's the address: 801 Virginia Avenue, Clarkville, VA. There's an admission fee and children and pets are welcome to come! Have a good time! Starts and ends October 11, 2008.

VIRGINIA OPERA PRESENTS: IL TROVATORE--Norfolk, VA
On our last place to visit in GOOD ole' VA is this town called Nork-folk, VA. You can be treated with beautiful voices if you nearby in Norfolk. Have you ever been to an opera? The opera will be performed in Italian and English Supertitles. This is some pretty good singin! Action packed romantic-comedy with a band of gypies to throw in you'll be rising up and pounding your hands togeterh! The famous Anvil Chorus will be praising hard work, wine and women. What's the cost? It's fReee..! I'm told for ticket holders for 45 minutes before all performance. Don't ask me how much the ticket's. I just deliver a lil' news.. The fat lady might show up.

THE ARKANSAS BLUES FESTIVAL--Helena, West Helena, AR
This is the 23rd year for this fest! Held in downtown Helena. The blues fest started on October 9 and continues through Sunday, October 12, 2008. Special appearances include: Sonny Boy Williamson II, Pine Top Perkins, and Robert Lockwood, Jr. This is one of the largest blues fests in the "IN TIRE" world. Attended by more than 80,000 people. For real! What's even better this festival is FREE for ALL! Perhaps some of you are attending? Sure sounds like a true blues fest to me. There will be several stages set up and the blues will take on a blue good time! Food may cost something, so bring some cash wit ya!

THE RIVER DUCK RACE--Mud Island-Memphis, TN
There's off! A river duck race will be held at Mud Island tomorrow startin around 9 a.m. You can purchase your ticket on a winning duck and you just might get the rolling prize.. It's a brand new Hardley Davis Motorcycle! Fun, food, ducks, people. I have to forewarn you though, the ducks are plastic ducks! This terrific fun will aid and benefit the organization for people with "SPINA-BIPHTHIA" okay, spelled it wrong, but I bet you know what I meant didn't ya? So place your bet on a duck and stop lookin at my spellin! Join the fun Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Mud Island.

ST JUDE SHOWCASE OF DOGS--St. Jude Children's Hospital
Dogs are at the Jude! Beautiful dogs will strut their stuff and the kids will jump up and down with glee! I'm Talkin bout happy faces! This is an annual event for St Jude. Stunt Dogs, or Dog Stars will also be around, to paw autographs. The kids of St Jude delight in smiles and laughter. The Showcase began October 09, and runs through October 12, 2008.
