The Power of Fear (1503 hits)

Where is all of the violence coming from in our world? Is it the powerful exhibiting their strength to the powerless? Is it the strong preying on the weak? Those are parts of the problem, but it's usually someone trying to prove a point to themself and they try to force their belief on the person being violated. The main ingredient of violence is usually the fear that is inside of the person being violent.

When a person is free of fear they don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone.

When a person is free of fear they will overlook an arguement because they are sure of where they stand.

When a person is free of fear they don't need to restrain, harm or hinder the next person in any way at all because their strength is in their beliefs and actions.

When a person is free of fear they are not afraid to walk away.

Does violence really make people respect someone's power or does it just show people that a violent person has weaknesses of fear, insecurity, and ego issues? When a person is truly powerful, there is no reason to prove their power to anyone...People will recognize it.

Fear has called a great deal of destruction and many atrocities in this world. Hitler acted out of Fear, which speaks to what you have written hear. Fear is evident in the MCCain Campaign as they now start to "lash out" at Obama. Fear is what has kept us in a war that has no purpose and from the looks of it no end.

"When a person is truly powerful, there is no reason to prove their power to anyone...People will recognize it." Never a truer statement was spoken.

Great Post and very thought provoking. It makes me assess some of my most recent actions, although not violent, definitely born of fear.

BE wary of those free of fear brother emmanuel,
at least, I am. To have fear is to be human, as it is to love, like, dislike, and hate.and to have courage. The key is not to disassociate from these human aspects, the key is to live with them. We need not be afraid of that which gives us fear. We need not be afraid of fear. We will feel it, it will be around, it is inside of us, but we must realize it is not our master. Courage is its twin. so instead of freeing ourselves from fear, thus inhumanizing us, let us confront our fear with courage, within us. And we will find we are balances in mind, body , and spirit, to the inspirations of others, whether good or bad

Fear is definitely a natural instinct in all of us.--Fear of the unknown, fear of loosing control, fear of exposing true self. The spirit of fear will either limit our full potential or it will cause us to re-examine our course in life. It is when we allow fear to dominate our spirit that it will have a crippling effect.

When we face our fears by examining our actions thereof, we are able to thoughtfully use our fears to guide us toward a positive outcome as oppose to simply reacting to our fears. There is NO POWER IN FEAR! The power is found when do not flee from our fears but instead examine what it is we are afraid of and why we are afraid it; enabling us to make positive and sound judgment with regard to our fears. In other words…Think before Reacting.

Very thought provoking post EB!

I guess it is more of the reaction to fear and how deeply rooted it is that determines how we react.

I think that you summed it up and a very valid point by stating "The spirit of fear will either limit our full potential or it will cause us to re-examine our course in life. It is when we allow fear to dominate our spirit that it will have a crippling effect."

We always have a choice in how we handle fears when they arise. I'm glad you liked the message.

"There is nothing to fear, but fear itself.' Although fear will always exist, we need to use strength and courage when dealing with oour fears.

Brother emmanuel,
I would say, to use strength and courage to deal with our fears and timidity in a waltz, not as police and convict
