Stop Telling Me Who to Vote For! (3771 hits)

I don't know about you but I am sick to death of people telling me whom I should vote for. I have a mind and I can make it up for myself. SO CAN YOU! Here's how:

VoteGopher http://www.votegopher.com/HTH.php offers a "nonpartisan and unbiased" side-by-side comparison of the positions of John McCain and Barack Obama on healthcare, the environment, the Middle East, taxes and spending, abortion, gun policy, gay rights, the courts, government reform and many other domestic, international, economic, social and political issues.

Feeling confused or even deceived by candidates' statements? Give them a litmus test at FactCheck.org. http://factcheck.org/ This nonpartisan "consumer advocate for voters," a project of University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center, monitors the factual accuracy of claims in advertising, news releases, interviews, debates, and speeches.

Want to explore the role money plays in candidates' campaigns? OpenSecrets.org http://www.opensecrets.org/overview/index.... calls itself "a nonpartisan guide to money's influence on U.S. elections and public policy." Use this site to discover what key players get from individual donations, PAC contributions, self-financing, federal funds, and other sources.

I hope this helps you!

I am having the same experience, S C. People feel the need to tell me why I should vote for the candidate whom they support, always assuming that I am voting for 'the other guy.' It is especially annoying when I have neither asked who they are voting for or told who I am voting for. Can you believe that someone said to me that because I am an intelligent woman who could see past skin color, he knew I would be voting for McCain? Is that a left-handed complement or what?

Well, I will put it this way, I am glad that Obama is going into those all white towns that the Clinton's went to to tell these people what to do(how to vote).

And, I do believe that McCain-Palin's telling people who to vote for is the best thing that could have happened to Obama. Telling a person "what" to do should always be a red flag for them, "always"...

clarence, as a child of the 60s, I agree with you 110%. this is why I am now interested more in what damage this negative direction of who/why to vote for is going to be the back lash? I do hope that this will lead to less reminders of the elections when people had to out racist the next racist to get into office as in the past in the deep south.

I was so glad that the Clintons went down for going down the White, Black Only audence road in church and towns. If the McCain-Palin ticket following this same path has not convenced those of the future to take heed, then the lack of Republicans in office in D. C. after November 4 should be able to get some kind of attention/affect.
