I am an artist, did I forget to tell you that? (744 hits)

I am not one to promote myself, and I found out recently that that was wrong! Daddy gave me a tallent, and by not promoting that tallent for His glory, is very wrong of me.

What I need from you is comments and suggestions of what my tallent can do to help you, and help me too. I struggled for years about the verse that says "make no graven image, of any kind", and now I know that it's not so much the graven image, as it is the WORSHIP of that image.

So.....

I need people to get to know me, and get to know what I can do. I need to know if my work is as good as Daddy says it is. I need to get the stuff out my house and into the hands of people who want to own it. I need constructive criticism. I need oppinions. I need to move something!

I most often work on portraits. The beautiful reflected images of the creator, the faces I see smiling back at me. I also do images of His great creation, be it sea scapes, landscapes, heart scapes. I have yet to find any medium that I haven't been able to pick up and learn to use. I don't have degrees or papers that say I can do this. I don't have certification. What I do have is tallent and drive. What I don't have and NEED is people! Ideas, inspiration, and work to do.

I have done glass etching (real glass etching, with a rotary tool, not sand blasting or acid etching creams), and also wood burning, clay sculpture, photography, hand-made dream catchers, crafts, crochet, sewing and painting. Neither leave room for mistakes, I cannot erase, and that challenges me to do the best work I can do.

I will post some pictures of my artwork for you to view and comment on, here at BIA, and I will give you the website address as soon as I get one made. Until then,....

CAN YOU HELP ME???

Feel free to email me at HeArtFortress317537K@yahoo.com until I get a website.

This is a glass etching in progress. A "Beta-fish bowl". You like? How much would you pay for something like this, if you wanted to give it as a gift? Would you want to buy it? I need FEEDBACK!!!! Looking for much needed 411.

Have many photos of my art posted in "Photos" section, if you'd like to see other works.

Thanx K! I've posted some more of my work in the "Photos" section, you are welcome to brouse and comment. Thanks too for the price quote, I need to get an idea of what kind of prices to charge. That bowl is a work in progress, and I'm only 1/3 way through with it. It's taken about 12-15 hours of work to get it this far, so I'd be making very little if I charged by the hour. But hey, I can't thumb my nose at $20! I'd be happy to get it. Anyone else? I need feedback!!!

LOVE that bowl. I'd let you set your price and then try to negotiate from there. I don't want to low ball you. It LOOKS expensive...check your PM.

This is a GIFT, girl. Go head on then! ;-)

Blessings...

Lesley, you need to go back through those pictures and mark them to allow comments. Lady, you are AWESOME!!! Look, I can't 'draw' in a straight line, let alone manually produce a picture, painting or sketch that resembles anything or anyone. The one of that old man really gave me goosebumps because of the DETAILS in the face and the hair. The one of Kim was so demure...so soft...it's like you captured her soul and penciled it.

Anyway, they're all AWESOME. Do NOT lowball yourself. These are worth a lot.

Blessings...

That's beautiful work. I would price it between $10 to $15. To give a base price, I would tell you to always add the cost of the supplies you use in making such a product, and then the time you would like to get paid for creating it. Most of the time you'll come up with a fair price. It's extraordinary and pretty. You may want to market that object to men or women who like crystal, or those who like candle burning. This would make a great gift item to ages 10 and up. It's lovely... just like you are Lesley....

My "PM"? Well, the bowl, if I were to charge by the hour, would probably make it expensive! At $2/hr, unfinished, it's already at $30! That's why I want oppinions! I thought about selling on ebay, but I'd rather set up my own website. Any suggestions? I don't know how to do either, but I'm willing to learn.

Hello Leslie,

Thank you for sharing so much about yourself. The only suggestions I have is that you when you send your messages on our website have your wed address readily available for people to access and see all your designs for themselves. This can cut down your time, and allow them to be directed to where they can go to view all your wonderful creations.

I checked and you should be able to comment on all my photo posts. I also posted one from my 13 year old son, Johnathan. He takes after me, but has his own style. I'm sure he'd like to hear how well he does, too.

Another note...
Once I have a website, I will be more than happy to place a link for each of you that helps me get this going, or perhaps a free piece of art? Details will come as this thing takes off and begins to find wings!

Thank you to all who are giving advice and critiques!!!! I promise it will not fall on deaf ears.

I'm trying to get a web page going (without a credit card). So I'm hitting a few road blocks. Thank you for the advice!!!

Hi Lesley. I looked at each and every one of your designs and left comments. Here, I just wanted to express how fantastically gifted you truly are. Let me say that you don't need a degree to say I'm an artist. If anything, your degree has come directly from God in the blessings of your hands, your eyes, your imagination and your spirit. I was also impressed with the dragon that your son drew. Continue to create and I look forward to visiting your website.

Thank you Vanessa! In Texas you have to have credentials to display or sell your artwork. Even in the local library. I'm finding that it isn't the same elsewhere in America! I hope I can get one, inexpensively, soon. Pray I don't get overwhelmed with work to do. I am still only one person.

Thanx E. I've been getting alot of offers for book illustrations. I once volunteered for my youngest sons elementary school enlarging books already in print. The teacher would read the story, but would have to stop so each student could look at the pictures to follow along. They had me "blow up" the book, exactly as it was published, to a larger version the kids could see as the story was being read. Some were done in crayon, others in cut construction paper. It was tedious at times, but fun and extremely gratifying! Thank you for the advice, too. I'll take all the help I can get. In the process of learning "computerese", still sounds like being trapped on a military base without a map or translator! Can't wait to post my web address! But more than that, can't wait to find out how to build a web site! (excited/scared)

We artists are our own worst critic. Don't be so hard on yourself. As long as you do the best you can at the moment, it's a priceless work of art.

Indeed...your work is your priceless, you don't have to compromise what you want to be paid for it.

E, I checked out your paintings, and I think they're pretty good! They look like those expensive contemporary works displayed in museums! Your photography is good too!

Hey all, got a new website, JUST, and I want your oppinion. It's still a work in progress, so be nice! Check it at heartfortressarts317537k.homestead.com. (Don't know how to link it, sorry) It isn't supported or hosted by yahoo, google, etc. yet, but I'm working on it. Want it to be good first, then we'll spread out from there.
