The Big Picture (1516 hits)

Our "Big Picture" of life might be big, beautiful and unique; but we always have remember that it is only a small part of a bigger masterpiece. In order words, our life is part of something bigger than ourselves, because others effect us and we effect others. Our Big Picture is no less important than anyone else's but it will mean much more to us than it will mean to someone else. We have to keep this in mind when we feel like someone is only thinking of theirself. Maybe they are just focusing on their "Big Picture" and can't see our "Big Picture" clearly.

Our "Big Picture" might be taking care of our beautiful family, making sure that they are safe and secure. Someone else's "Big Picture" might be doing the same for their own family and they might look at the security of our family as secondary to the security of their own. This doesn't make them a bad person, in some cases, it's just that our "Big Picture" is not as big to them.

By understanding that other people see things differently than we do and that their personal lives do not completely revolve around ours, we can begin to see that there is always a time in life when we have to depend ourselves to make the right decision for us. There is nothing wrong with taking care of ourselves, as long as we are not doing so at someone else's expense. Personal gain is one thing, but intentionally harming someone is wrong no matter how you look at it.

Although, it's almost impossible to have the exact same big picture, we should try to combine aspects of "Our Big Picture" with others as much as possible to make everyone's "Big Picture" a little brighter.

Share your "Big Picture" today, it might grow into something bigger.

A Coat of Arms by Doug Holloway
One day while listening to a radio program, I paid real close attention to what the host was suggesting. He was telling the listeners that parents should modify their way of thinking if they wanted to be a part of their child’s life. There may be some merit in what he was saying in some extreme circumstances, but I thought this was a ridiculous thing to suggest. If you really think about it, no parent owes a child a life time of conforming to the child’s whims. The child should be the one to conform to the lifestyle of the parenting household. Parents shouldn’t have to say I’m sorry for the way their child’s life is turning or has turned out if the parent has done what they knew to be the legal, moral and plain old right thing to do. ...By understanding that other people see things differently than we do and that their personal lives do not completely revolve around ours...

Certainly we could all benefit from understanding and acknowledging that we all are individuals who will not see things exactly the same. I appreciate my sisters and brother's individuality and creativity here on BIA website. I am very fortunate to be an extension of all you guy's bigger picture. What a great post Brother Emmanuel!

This is a very inspiring and thought provoking post, dear. It would be prudent for us to realize that the “Bigger Picture” is a broader entity to life then we sometimes allow ourselves to view and examine.

True, we all have our own personal agendas, and have our own definition of the “Bigger Picture.” But what does it really mean in the bigger sense of things? What do we exist for? We all want to make a difference in this world...We talk about it everyday. What are we actually doing to make a difference? Have we accepted how important each one of us is to the other? Have we accepted that our personal actions have a major impact on self and those around us? Are we supportive one to another? Are we all growing together? As we view these inquiries, examine and understand the universal effects of our personal actions, we are indeed realizing the “Bigger Picture.”

Awesome Post! This started my day off on a very positive note. Thank you…As always, you bring the light.

I completely agree with this...
It's easy to get lost and caught up in our own lives and forget about others and the importance of working together towards a common goal with family and friends.
We can continue to have our own "Big Picture" but helping our loved ones by reaching out just adds to both parties "Big Picture" which makes life easier and goals most times become more attainable.

I get "The Big Picture" here and l love how your mind works. This is just more proof of how you continue to See Growth daily therefore become part of the peoples lives you touch and broaden their "Big Picture" as well as your own.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your "Big Picture".
