A Long Time Coming!

I, just as many of you, watched our presidential hopeful speak to America about America and what we can be, and I was inspired. I watched him address the issues facing us and the choices that lie ahead, knowing and believing that all things are possible. I sat and listened to the senators and governors praise him with regards to his intelligence and ideas for moving America forward. He has not only inspired hope for a new, stronger and better America, but also the entire world.

I remember when he first caught my eye during the Democratic National Convention. As I spoke to my friends the following day, Black, White, Asian and Hispanic all said the same thing; did you hear that Black senator speak last night? He should be the one running for president! We all agreed that he was something special then. I even remember thinking, many years ago, that I wouldn't see a Black president of the United States of America in my lifetime. There have been people of color that have made a run at the office, but with all due respect to Senator Chisholm and Reverend Jackson, I felt, at that time, that they were not viable. The biggest problem America had was that racism would prevent White America from truly looking beyond skin color and be able to see what lies beneath; the heart and soul of a man, the content of his character and the strength, courage and passion to fight for what he believes. My mind has been changed.

Seeing the audiences at the hundreds of Obama rallies across the country looking as America truly is, a collection of different ethnic groups bound together by a common cause, gave me hope. I truly believe that we can become the greatest America ever, led by a man that we can all be proud of calling our President. On November 4, 2008 I look forward to hear, "On this historic occasion, we are pleased to present to you our president for at least the next four years, President Barack Obama."

I hope that all of you will join me in wishing him nothing but the best and much success. Let us not forget that must do our part, realizing that the journey isn't over, but only just the beginning.

Obama is the creme of the crop & he is by far the best America has to offer right now for the presidential office without a doubt in my mind. Thanks for this blog Brother Milliken.

George, every time I come out of shock over this whole presidential race having a 44th nonWhite male in the Oval office, I do my best to help make this all come true. Dr. M. L. King's look over that racist mountian and seeing this promise land of one day we will be seen as equal. This will not come on November 5, 08, or on January 21, 09,but since this has come during my life time> this is enough for me right now.

Nov. 5 will be a new beginning in America, the land of my birth.
