TOP 5 WAYS TO FIGHT POLICE BRUTALITY

TOP 5 WAYS TO FIGHT POLICE BRUTALITY

Recently there has been a lot of controversy about cop killings. There is a difference between a cop killing an African American and an African American killing a cop. Police are fully aware that they have a dangerous job in which they may get killed or injured dealing with criminals when they sign up for the job. Criminals whether they be black or white do not represent the black community but police do represent the government. Black citizens did not sign up for being at risk for police brutality or killings.

When unarmed peaceful civilians are killed by the police, they are being killed by agents of the government that is supposed to represent them. It is this failure of government that must be addressed.

In several other stories on police brutality I’ve seen a lot of anger, however it must channeled more effectively than just saying "F" the police or calling them pigs or gloating over police killings. If this anger is channeled correctly we can take action to actually reduce the amount of police brutality. If this anger is channeled incorrectly it can result into a war with the police that will only lead to more violence and brutality.

Here are my 5 Ways To Stop Police Brutality:

1. Protests

Police stations, city hall and other government venues must be protested against and marched on after every incident of police brutality.

2. Record the Police

We must use our cameras every time police harass us to catch them in the act. Then we can use the Internet and the viral media to expose these actions worldwide. In their heyday, the Black Panthers would do this. They had a police watch and would follow the police with a camera and record their actions. Now that cameras are so cheap and people have cameras on their phones, it is a lot easier to hold the police accountable for their actions.

3. Vote Out Politicians Who Condone Police Brutality

Politicians who do not address issues like police brutality must be voted out of office. Rappers should be spending a lot less time glamorizing black on black crime and dissing each other, and more time documenting police brutality. African American entertainers and activists have a strong voice in America and they must also use that voice to fight the problems in our community.

4. Engage in Dialogue With the Cops

We must use moderate police organizations to work with the police to stop police brutality. Groups like 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement have done a lot to combat police brutality and people should work with them as an intermediary to deal with community issues with the police.

5. Take Legal Action Against Police

We need to take legal action as well. The best way to hurt police brutality is by hitting them in the pocket. If the police keep on getting sued for brutality they’ll be forced to deal with the issue. Every incident of police brutality should be reported to both the government and the media.

Black people pay taxes and therefore they also pay police salaries. Police should be in the communities to serve and protect not to harass and arrest. The war on drugs is really a war on the black community. Black people are treated like insurgents in occupied territory and not citizens in need of protection. We need to address how the war on drugs has become a war on black males that has caused more problems than it has helped.

So what do YOU think? If I left some good tips out, let me know in the Comments. It’s not enough to be angry at law enforcement. We must channel our anger into actions that will stop police brutality in the future.

And before Brother Robert makes any effort to comment on my blog, I will let it be known that he sent me an email expressing sentiments about Sister Marta similar to the ones 4Real Sister made, then slammed me for not following the NOI's teachings. While I don't know what REALLY happened to our Sister Marta, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Robert was one of the 2 MEN who participated in running her off!!!

Brothers and Sisters, Brother Robert's view on Sister Marta shows us that it's not only white people who don't want us to have nothing, it's your OWN kind who don't want you to have nothing too. Brother Robert's behavior towards me and Marta is that and no different from the other people on this site who profess Black unity, but still praying to a White Jesus and continue to read their King James (devil-who-impregnated-his-own-mother) version of the Holy Scripture behind closed doors!!!

Right now I really feel like fighting today, but this is the week our BLACK Jesus was crucified, and he taught NO VIOLENCE, so people, I'm going to remain calm. And even though Brother Robert slammed every one of my blogs yesterday, I don't have a problem with him at all. Brother Robert, however, has a problem with himself.

Police brutality is unjustifiable, regardless of race.

Having said that, I always go back to the beginning deterrent to such things:

Do not engage in criminal activity.

And yes, I know that every person that has been harrassed by police did not bring it on themselves. There ARE those who will knowingly and intentionally break the law, refuse to respect or obey authority and set themselves up to be aggressively handled. And by that, I mean drug dealers, gang bangers, armed robbers, rapists, wife beaters and the like. I think in some cases, police brutality is not necessarily brutality.

However, I also believe that any police officer who stops someone on a minor traffic violation or just finds a reason to stop them on the street or any other public place and ends up beating the hell out of that person for GP should swiftly LOSE his/her job.

Blessings...

Siebra and Robert:

You two should probably consider the practice of ignoring each other. Your negative comments toward each other in your own blogs is distracting. And I'm only speaking from my own perspective.

If you really do not want to hear or see what the other person has to say, do not read each other's blogs and if one of you does respond to the others' blogs, that person should form the habit of DELETING your post from his/her blog.

You DO have the option of deleting Siebra's comments from your blogs, Robert. And Siebra, you have the exact same recourse. I'm gathering that if both of you start there, you'll learn to ignore each other.

Blessings...

I agree with Mozell. What I do with the roberts of the world is to show how and why that same thin line between right and wrong is the same as that one between love and hate.I maen continue to use your self to balance out the negatives you see in the roberts of the world.become a solution in ending this behavior.

words also can be used as a totally distructive weapon when it can eleminate rational thinking; and this is exactly what robert is doing to you right now my sister.

Now take that negative Karma that he has managed to bring into you life and turn it into a Beautiful poem or another Black history lesson of how you will turn all of this into a fight for bringing an end to this IMAGE of we African-Americans are V-I-O-L-E-N-T...O.K???? now give me a big smile and give yourself a pat on the back as proof to your self that WE SHALL OVER COME any and all obsticals put into our path twards peace and unity in BIA...Love you...

The above comment is perfect for proving that myth about all African-Americans are Violent,false...because if a policeman has stopped you because his gain is to farther this racist agenda, then with Cory responding in this self respecting and respecting what the uniform is the person wearing it will not only experience shame , but make him/her so off guard they will most linkely just ask for identification or some other thing that they are by law suppose to do when they stop a driver...

You go Cory...

Thank you Dee. as we tend to so often forget that freedom of speech does not mean it gives an ok or legality to use "words" that can start a PUBLIC up rising!!!
