The Need for a

The Need for a "Love Everlasting" Campaign

With more American states opening up the door to "same-s*x marriages", I'm starting to wonder why married, heteros*xual couples are remaining noticeably silent on this issue. Are we beginning to question the fact that marriage is between one man and one woman? (Everything else is nothing more than a civil union, a cohabitation arrangement.) I hope not, because that would mean the pressure of protecting the sanctity of marriage is getting to us. Truth be told, we married, heteros*xual couples have just as much right as they to say what's on our minds.

What we married, heteros*xual couples need to do is initiate a "Love Everlasting" Campaign. This campaign would allow us to respectfully say what's on our minds through words, deeds and special events. It would also provide the kind of modeling that our children and youths need to see. We just need to send up some extra prayers so that the national media will pay attention, not take what we're doing for granted.

If you would like to develop a framework for this "Love Everalasting" Campaign, please join other concerned parents and me on the new "Put your foot on the...P.E.D.A.L." social network (http://www.pedalnetwork.ning.com). This network is dedicated to exerting collective parental influence on the individuals and systems shaping children's attitudes and behaviors. Because marriages between one man and one woman are the engines driving today's nuclear family, it is imperative that we married, heteros*xual couples let our lights shine for all to see while we're in the midst of the darkness.

What do you think? I look forward to reading your responses.

It is about time that someone and especially American African men take a stand for commitment and marriage. Our young men and women need to hear from you. They are struggling and asking for guidance. Keep it going.

I will. And please join the conversation at http://www.pedalnetwork.ning.com. The PEDAL Network is dedicated to exerting collective parental influence on the individuals and systems shaping children's attitudes and behaviors. Collective is the operative word.

Thank you, ladies, for your kind words. Be blessed, and continue to be blessings.
