Must Rapper Snoop Dogg Pay $22 Million for Alleged Beat Down? Trial Continues

(Taylor Media Services) Popular Rapper Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus) took the witness stand last week to defend himself against a $22 million lawsuit. Former fan Richard Monroe, Jr. is claiming that Broadus and his bodyguards severely beat him after he jumped on the stage during a Snoop Dogg concert near Seattle, Washington in 2005.

Monroe says after the beating, he woke up backstage, naked and in a pool of blood. But during his testimony last week Snoop Dogg said he never hit Monroe and that his security personnel tackled Monroe because they thought he was about to attack Broadus. Snoop told the jury, “The best way for the injuries not to have occurred was for him to stay in his seat and enjoy the show like the rest of the fans.”

The trial is expected to end this week.

I think Snoop Dogg is right. That guy should have stayed in his seat (or on his feet) OFF THE STAGE like every other spectator. And $22 MILLION????????? That ridiculous. This should have been thrown out as soon as any judge heard that number.

(Taylor Media Services) Rapper Snoop Dogg will not have to pay $22 million to a fan that was severely beaten after he stormed on the stage during a 2005 Snoop Dogg performance at an arena near Seattle, Washington. Richard Monroe claimed he was left unconscious, bloody and naked after being beaten by several people when he rushed onto the stage.
However, a jury decided last week that Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus) was not personally responsible for what happened to Monroe and cleared him of any civil penalty. Nevertheless, Monroe was awarded $449,000 to be paid by the Doggystyle record label, rapper Soopafly and others involved in the beating. Monroe had originally sought $22 million for the beating. The trial lasted two weeks.
