TEENAGER ARRESTED IN NEW ORLEANS SLAYING OF 13 YEAR OLD BOY
ANOTHER REASON WE MUST SAVE OUR BLACK MALES...
NEW ORLEANS -- A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the death of a 13-year-old boy, who was shot and killed in New Orleans East Monday afternoon as he was standing on the street with a group of teenagers, police said.
Assistant Superintendent Marlon Defillo said earlier Monday that they had taken three people in for questioning. One of them was the 14-year-old boy, whose name was not released by police because of his age. He will be transported to the Juvenile Division and charged with second-degree murder.
Defillo said the victim, 13-year-old Shaka Miller, and several teenagers were standing on the street when a person came up to them with a handgun. The gunman began shooting at the group, striking Miller, before fleeing on foot.
Miller, who was struck multiple times, ran to a nearby home for help and collapsed on the doorway, Defillo said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
“It’s very scary, because I could remember times when I was growing up and we would have fights that we live to come back and say we are sorry,” said Shirley Dixon, a neighbor. “But they’re not giving you that chance anymore.”
