Irma, I've been on a different planet. I take it that you're basically saying that Civil Rights are again being infringed upon. Brown vs. Board is being threatened. Plus you're comparing it to Gay Rights and such.

I believe that we spoke about it before. The Civil Rights Movement ended when Dr. King died. There were people that followed but not someone that states and countries would deem worthy. There was no Mahatma Gandhi or other type of leader. I think that you said it yourself. Jesse Jackson doesn't have the amount of respect to move it forward.

I believe that if two people want to marry, then let them do it. I don't believe in it spiritually for me. But I can't tell the choir director not to love a man as he would a woman. That's on him. As far as education goes, there are plenty of things wrong. First, they need to impose corporal punishment in the schools again. I play basketball with a group of them several times a week in different areas. They are ridiculous with their mouths and bad demeanor.

I do believe in Civil Rights but it has to be done in a positive way. Not all people can handle that movement. With the new Sheriff in the U.S., I think that we are as close to being able to getting something achieved as we have been in decades. His election has gained the attention of people that wouldn't care otherwise.

The fight for Gay and Lesbian rights is not my fight. And it really isn't connected to Brown v. Board of Education. What is interesing about lawyers is that they can use whatever argument they find convenient to make their case.

Once again, I must caution hose who are getting worked up about this, don't get sucked into a trap that weakens your own agenda.

Irma, I read all three parts of you informational blogs. Learned much, still unsure about some. Politics has never been in my greater interest, however I am always presented with knowing more about governmental operations. Your blog and others comments helped my awareness. Thanks Irma for the lessons.

For the benefit of US..... THE PEOPLE, we must realize that our time has come for the CHANGE to take place. And it all begins within us !
We need to lay claim for ourselves, take control of the educational system that have stagnated us and our children.
WE NEED LEADERS, that will stand up and take charge !
Leaders that will fight for the cause, and willing to die for it as well !

There are things we need to be doing RIGHT NOW !
We badly need to educate our females to understand their powers, connect with that power and reclaim what has been taken.So she can properly teach her daughters.... who she is.

Irma, sorry it took me so long to get to reading your posts. But I am so glad that I have now taken the time. You are certainly on point with your message. My husband and I talk about these things all the time. We have come to the conclusion that a lot of this nonsense that is going on is because the GOP has been inpower soooooooo! long that they are afraid because they no longer control Amercia any more. Honestly I believe they are trying to go back to the days of the "founding" fathers who rebelled against England. Look at all of these so called Tea Party Rallies around the country over the past few months. Don't even get me started on the Limbaugh, he is a raving lunatic if you ask me. But just wanted to thank you Irma for speaking your mind and sharing it with us!!!

The little picture would show how this is not a civil right's movement because it is is all about Gays...to me this is about the same view that a visitor from another planet would get if they only saw the news anchors of fox cable news. they would believe there were almost no women and no men or women that were not White.

This is a civil rights movement because just like the last one it forced in how the African-Americans had the rights to equality. We did get a few, but then like Affrimative Action when the White female became the minority they got to beccome supreme Court judges, Senators, big businesss CEOs.While we got it turned against us altogether!!!!!

Now we need not just a new Affermative Action, but to be able to become more that TOKENS blocking the doors for too many other qualified Black people.We do not need to be doing more time in prison that Whites who do the same crimes. We need defense attorneys that know the inmate's name when they go into court to defend them. We need to stop this a Black single mom is bad but a White one even a teen one is good.So good they can be good for a presidential Black candidate who can not even attend the chirch of his choice in America!!!We need more than ropes hanging on trees being called a joke. Crosses burned on our laws then called freedom of speech!!!!We need more that a public media anchor getting ONLT $millions for not working after calling us racist /degrading and demeaning names to our young children. We deserve more that Glen Beck calling the distinguished Judge Sonia Sotomajor a hispanic chick.And, she a top student in ivy leage colleges being stupid because of 'Affirmative Actions'!!!!!!We need the FCC to enforce it rules of now public air wave programs like Fox be able to demean a race of people because it is illegal accroding to their liscens to be on the air. I guess, I do not have to even bring up rush or Bill O'Rielly now do I.My people it is Jim crow laws that is allowing all of this to happen and God knows this is not about the Gays trying to get married!!!!!!!!!WAKE UP

All I ever ask is that you do your own research on any things I say to you. and I will repeat while you are at it look at the 60s at what our President John F. Kennedy and Dr. King were trying to accomplish and you will see that they were not just trying to get one thing for the African-American but doing a lot of things just as our President Lbama is going to be doing and it is not limited to Gays in any ways.

Those words said during the campaing about Mr. Obama must become our next president so that he could continue the work of Kennedy and King was more than pretty words to get votes.Because this work is still there to be done!!!!!!!

It is about enforcing Brown vs Board of Education and if you listen very carefully, even the main stream media is saying exactly what I am saying to you. And, for this I must give my thanks to the Republican Right Wing for a lot of this coming so fast. My only regret is that the new Supreme Court is not in place...but, tis one did over turn already a lot of the Bush's administration's Seperat is Equal private government's Jim Crow laws now didn't they(smile)

Now if what I have tired to get understood in still remain not understood about this has so little to do with the s*x life/ demands of the Gay community, I will ads this. When the lead Republican attorney of the Bush administration and his Democrat fellow attorney, who has unlike him argued not 55 cases before the Supreme Court, gets the law suit against our Ca. governor and our state's attorney; it will be to claim that this matter is not state / personal, but a Federal complaint ...and why is this so?????!!!!?

It is because unless the Supreme Court of Calif. can not get every law passed during last century's Civil Rights movement OVER TURNED then their over turning prop 8 is as illegal to the Federal government as their legal weed law is!!!!!!!!

for 'me' there is no way that I would ever say one prayer that Brown vs Board of Education is made illegal just to stop gays from being able to put on a piece of paper something that will only last until the devorce court be able to undo it and Mr. Obama's not being able to be in the White house for two terms because he may have accepted help under Affirmative Actions...WAKE UP....because this is what will happen in the real world with Brown vs Board of Education as no longer a law of the land any more!!!!!!!

The fight of the African-America to gain EQUALITY did not start in the 60s nor did it end with the death of Dr. M. L. King.The Civil Rights movement is never,ever, ever about only o-n-e violations of the laws of our Constution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!! ...and it did not just start with Dr. King nor end with his death...it started when we as a people got the RIGHT case before the lower courts May 17, 1957 when Jim Crow was made illegal in all 50 states!!!!

THE GAY FIGHT IS NOT OUR FIGHT(as members of the African decent) IT IS A CASE HEADED TO COURT THAT WILL OPEN THE DOOR FOR AFRICAN- AMERICANS TO GET THINGS SPECIFICLY RELATED TO OUR RACE NOT BEING EQUALLY PROTECTED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE LAND,end of story except we have plans to wait for 1-2 more Supreme court picks of Mr.. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Roger. What you say hopefully will allow our young people to accept "oral history" as a part of our African heritage. I was so up set to see so many of 'us' turning against Rev. J. Wright for saying the same things that are being taught in our African-American history departments. but, then so few of us still get taught in public schools any thing but about 'slavery' and not about the African-American family cultural make up that came with us from Africa. (thus the our History began and ended in the 60s artifical syndrom)Like the mother not the father is the historical provider. Our history says that the male may not come home with meat from the hunt, but the female always had both breast milk and roots and herbs and plant food 365 days a year. That our uncle, brother can fill in the father position of the family if the birth father wwas no longer there to help raise the children.

Our family unity and our need to survive as a family, a village meant that everyone was important in some way...this we did not and still can not find in the school books provided by the majority media or school books out side of our 4 year colleges. They are in our public libraryor we can see that they are put there, but who goes there any more? We would rather watch the White experts on our race, family structure, history that is European centered...

Acuatlly this has less to do (from were I am coming from ) with politics than it does with the need to never stop being Black and proud dispite politcs trying to abuse us as a race that is too unique to just put labels on our community / culture values along with our never ending demand for respect...

It took 191 years to have an all Wite male Supreme Court to gain only the first TOKEN non White liberal justice. Then they selected the first Conservative TOKEN non White justice. Affirmative Action then allowed the first "2" White female justices on the Supreme Court.

Now after 273 years, the first African-American president has nominated the first non White female to the Supreme Court. But, the crys of her being a racist member of the Latino KKK and her being stupid and only got to be first in her class in her ivy legde colleges only because of Affrimative Action, and,because not only is she a racist, bigot, but is stupit too boot!!!!! Thus making this comment an ONLY IN AMERICA within an ONLY IN AMERICA.example,

Only in America can a political party not see that in going after our president and his first choice to be on the Supreme Court that the Right Wing is acknowledging the KKk is an organization that is a danger to our citizens?!? What next, calling them 'home grown terrorist'? "NO" as This is way, way too, too much to even be thinking out loud that this could even be possiable(smile)

But, even more important is that in the next major elections in 2010 and in 2012 the Republicans will not be able to make the same claims as in 2008 that the Blacks and the Lations are at war with each other. They will not be able to claim that their choice against (Mr. Obama) has a corner on the Catholics in Penn. as the Hispanics have the corner in this religion, maybe?(smile)
