Blues Legend and Queen KoKo Taylor departed her vibrate life on June 03, 2009. "KoKo" as she was nicknamed because she loved chocolate, recently had been hospitalized for surgery last month and passed away at her Chicago home. She was 80 years old. Born on a farm not far from Memphis, Tennessee; she started singing blues at an early age and submerged greatly earning her the title of The Blues Queen.

BRIEF HIGHLIGHTS HER AWARD-WINNING JOURNEY AND BLUES CAREER:

1928--Born Cora Walton on 09.28.1928 (Daugher of a sharecropper)
1984--Blues Grammy Award Winner
1997--Inducted in the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame
1998--Named Chicagoan of the Year
1999--Awarded Blues Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award
2009- Awarded Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year
KoKo received a total of 29 Blues Awards, more than any blues singer ever in blues history.

Koko peformed in Memphis, TN at the Blues Artist Festival in last month's Memphis in May Iternational Annual Blues Festival; where she was also awarded the Female Artist of the Year. It was her last public performance. A Blues Queen, Koko Taylor who pitched a "Wang Dang Doodle!" one of her most popular hits.
