BOOK REVEALS OBAMA HAD SECRET MEETING WITH REVEREND WRIGHT

Say whatever you will, Wright spoke the truth in his "GOD DAMN AMERICA" speech!!! When I first heard Rev.Wright on TV, I thought I was listening to one of Minister Farrakhan's sermons. We have all been abused by this system in some way. If you're Black, and from the South, you definitely experienced it, so we all said it one time.

This was a very enlightening posting, sister. I can envision this scenario and President Obama made all the right moves once again. I totally agreed w/Rev. Wright's speech, too; but to reach the ultimate goal, Obama had to sever ties -- at least publicly, and, according to he article, it appears that he was dutiful enough to meet the "good reverend" on his terms . Ultimately, who showed himself to be more reverential?

I'm probably not going to be popular for this, but I disagree with Reverend Wright's "God d--m America" or anything else, let alone from the pulpit, which is not a place to be expressing oneself that way. (And again, it's must my opinion).

That wasn't about God, which is what a sermon is supposed to be about-- how to grow in faith, how to improve as a person of faith, how to become 'fishers of men', how to apply LOVE and not hatefulness and vegeance, etc.

Romans 12:13-19 exposes the wrongness of a vengeful, angry spirit:

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[a] says the Lord.

"Bless" those who curse you. "Bless," not curse. "Bless." So putting God's name on anyone else's damnation is dangerous...and frankly, wrong. And that's not me saying that; the Word says that. And I say dangerous knowingly planting the wrong seeds has accountability. As a leader, he and those in similar positions, have a lot of responsibility and with that responsibility comes accountability...not to man, but ultimately to God. I prayed for Rev. Wright to seek God's wisdom, not his own, but God's because though it may not be popular to say, God didn't appear to be in that too much.

Irma, I can't answer many of the questions you asked because I am NOT God and do not sit in His throneroom. What I stated is what I know to be true.

And I mean this in the most possible way: I refuse to get into a philosophical debate because my spirituality (my personal relationship with God) is not something I care to defend, justify or quantify. I will say that because Rev. Wright is a Christian, we indeed study from the same Bible and serve the same God. Unless he's something other than a Christian, we absolutely serve the same God.

And for the record, people of all races and nationalities attend the church of which I am a member, and we have a wonderful time in the Lord together, on one accord. We also meet twice during the week, once for Bible study and the other for women's ministry and that is an awesome supportive, bonded fellowshipping experience. God is awesome.

Finally, religion forces one to live boxed in. A personal relationship with the Father is a deeply spiritual one, very affirming, comforting and sure. And I can't describe the sheer awesomeness of it. It's something you'd have to experience to really understand. To have to explain it suggests that you have not (and that is perhaps because we...as in you and me...might NOT serve the same god. I serve God...the big G...I won't ask who you serve because I don't understand Bhuddism and do not want to make an insensitive statement).

I do not attempt to damn you, condemn you or judge you because we don't have the same spiritual beliefs, and I would appreciate it if you would refrain from directing your angst towards me. And just out of curiousity...what if you get to Heaven and God looks like a technicolor coat? Will you be disappointed that he's NOT black? Just to push a point: what if you get there and He's NOT black? Will you refuse to enter into the Kingdom because of it? What IF He's white? Will you refuse?

1. I do not 'worry' about the color of my skin..but there is a reason that you call youself a Black woman and not a White woman...AM I CORRECT? Does this mean you are stuck on the word Black or skin color?I identify Black for the same reason I identify as African-American that I use to identify as Negro. It is because society norms changes (like the Bible?)...so where does the need to worry or any thing else about the color of my skin? I do not. But, I would raise holy hell if I woke up one morning and saw that my skin was White, what a take down that would be for me! (smile)

Sister Dee, I am called by the name my mother gave me when she named me after my grandmother.I am a person who is in total control of my life; so much that I am the only expert on Irma...I was born and raised Catholic, When I no longer could fit this in my life,I left the teachings of that White God. I have been to too many church services where the preacher preached hell and damnation to the adultror and the theif and where some were only there because it was easter and they had new cloths...How can a preacher damn a person and not be able to damn abuse of people ,are we not all god's children????Even nonChristians?????

Speaking only for me, I have prayed all of my life and still do at least 2 times a day each and every day.what has done more to make me the proud African-American that I am today is the day I stoped wanting to go to meet that White God. And, for any who have not read my post on why I no longer fear going to hell, then I am more reenforced about this when I see any of my people still (maybe) fearing to go there...but, I do love and respect our differences, because as Rev. Wright says, being different does not mean defecient...
